tbh 116 should be renamed Svc 71 then extend to Ang Mo Kio - Hougang. Would be a great relief to Sv 73 also.

73 also dont have much demand la.. it just does okay with current fleet... hence no add from sbst or bsep as well..

some observations:

You have just seen part of the route. Also 68 pax not bad already. If it were SD already people will cram. This service will again get super crowded near Bukit Batok area towards BPJ area.

meanwhile, 180 loading is even lower. it is only high during certain periods. one reason is because there is only a few groups of people using it. in the late morning, sometimes a bendy on 180 can be relatively empty with only a few people.

whereas for 172, it is comparable to 187. high loading from BL should be until old cck road area. the rest is to cck ave 3 area. why? because there is a popular secondary school in that area...

meanwhile, 178... the loading is primarily begins/ends at Taman Jurong area, east-wards. TJ to BB....

My suggestion is when you do loading analysis to try and take at least 75-80% of the route to know why a high capacity bus is deployed. 180 has crazy loading during peak hours. It also depends on where you see.

172 loading also can be very high depending on timings and long distance travelers

178 has low loading comparatively.

now have one at the front and one at the middle, so if want install third door, it's at the back.

the concern is really how much the capacity will be affected should we have a third door. apparently, third door also comes with second staircase...

apparently three door two staircase dd is still rare in the world... but based on the new london routemaster, prescribed capacity is only 80. which means maximum (95%) it can carry only 76... the length is 11.23m, but really, 77cm does not make any difference, right?

say it is 12m and it carries 76 people.. "density" would be 6.33/m. that would be the same as two Single Deck buses coupled together... might as well couple two Single Deck buses, right? somemore two SDs would have four doors, one more door for alighting.. also better, right?

so maybe having three doors and two staircase is not a good idea after all....

even if only three doors, ... okay... maybe if only have the three doors, no second staircase, then only will it be better than the current DD...

just my two cents worth.

If this was recorded today at 7:50am, it is obvious the loading was low. On a Sunday morning, many people are still sleeping.

For the most accurate recordings, the best time to record loadings of buses is during peak hours, between Monday and Thursday. That is usually when buses experience the highest loadings and usually, the recordings best represent travel patterns and which bus stops are the most utilised.

Sorry - I should have stated this was on Friday morning... I normally state the date, missed it over here. Thanks for pointing out. Even I don't wake up that early on Sunday.

* These days have been very busy so get time to post things only on Sunday but my plus makes it easy to store loading data in notes *

Weekday peak hours don't always have the highest loadings. Go find 116 on a Saturday. There will be full buses. Weekday off-peak also very inconsistent. Sometimes empty, sometimes so full that people can't board anymore.

During weekday peak hours, loading at Punggol East will obviously be low because nobody is going to visit the malls there.. And residents in Punggol East already have sv 3, 50, 83, 85 and LRT so there's no need for sv 386 (except those closer to bus stops along Edgedale Plains, but sv 386 is still too windy). But on weekends you may see Waterway residents going to Punggol East to go shopping etc... Just some predictions

Hi mr array88, not everybody requests can be satisfied. The extension to Punggol east was 1) at the request of residents further inside to connect to restaurant/shops at plaza and east along tebing lane(Riveria LRT) where there are many F & B. and 2) at the request of punggol central elderly residents to connect to their own children who bought those newer blocks near the waterway. So the extension helps serve dual purposes. However the loading is expected to be minimal for these purposes. Cheers.

43/43M is getting quite good traction from Buangkok Green to Buangkok MRT these days. So looks like some preferring going backwards to avoid the NEX crowd in AM. May also be to do with getting seats at Buangkok compared to NEX.

334 needs 1 standby SD to clear "leftover load at JE Int. Maybe BC can just pick pax and EDS to OS while serving route. OS back to int after no pax on bus.

If not, add a crossover slot at weekdays 7.12pm, 7.09 shift change to 7.07 so buses in this order(based on Screen timing): 7.01(bus usually depart at 7.03 which was previous timing before idk why change to 7.0) 7.07 (New bus depart at 7.09 usually) 7.12 (Xover shift) 7.16

So 9DDs(or 8?) and 1xover right?
