Yutong has been pushing out production hybrid buses in China for
a few years already. Air pollution is quite an issue and Chinese
cities are keen to reduce emissions.
The Alexander-Dennis Enviro400H is also quite a common sight in
London.
ADL's E400H is pretty good as well, with matching fuel
consumption figures to the B5LH on the same routes when operating
in London. However as you might have known, their E350H did pretty
badly in Sydney.
Unfortunately, TfL has yet to publish public figures for the New
Routemasters, but initial figures have put them at a disadvantage
(partly due to the additional 0.7m, and also due to additional
requirements for conditioning on the upper deck).
On the other hand, always wondered how efficient are the yutong
hybrids.
