I think it is a great move by LTA

- connects Changi Beach

- Alps Avenue (without requiring ppl to have pass) .. if it was routed via route of sv 89 for instance, you need pass to enter... i think just for Alps... you don't need

- connects to Tanah Merah... faster for ppl than connecting to say Pasir Ris as another 10 minute train journey.

I feel sv 35 might get some DDs with this change.

I think it is a good route unique for Toh Tuck areas to connect to Jurong East. But the parallelism with 183 surprises me and doesn't as well.

I think 41 is introduced to relieve the load on sv 183 which is so crowded during peak hours and even 183B is not helping much to relieve the queues.

But what a waste it would be if sv 41 cannot accommodate DDs. I hope it does.

Exactly the same route I had articulated. It was needed for St. Wilfred's estate. Very happy for ppl living there. Also a good alternative to residents along Upper Boon Keng who only had option of 175 all these years.

Expect full fleet SD for this service.

Don't forget 35M which will operate current 35's route on selected timings...

But that's not a new route... that is existing route, renumbered. So no comments there :)

Looks like svcs 41 and 140 will also connect to future MRT stns on the Downtown Line, in addition to the existing MRT stns served. 41 will serve Beauty World stn at Jln Jurong Kechil/ Upp Bt Timah, while 140 will serve Geylang Bahru stn at the junction of Geylang Bahru and Kallang Bahru. Hopefully 140 will be more successful than the old SBS svc 20 between Sims Place and St Wilfred Rd, by supplementing 175 along Geylang Bahru as well.

Including svc 41, Toh Guan Rd will have 8 full day bus svcs (41, 52, 105, 183, 188, 333, 502, 990) and 5 peak hour/weekend bus svcs (188E, 188R, 543, 657, 868). Already quite crammed right now since the road isn't very wide. 41 could have been routed via Boon Lay Way or Jurong Gateway Rd instead, anyway 183 already connects Toh Guan HDB flats to Toh Guan industrial area.

The only thing for 41 & 49 is the numbering that doesn't make any sense... lol... when 40, 42, 43, 45, 48 travels Eunos, Bedok, MP areas...
Would rather 41 be numbered as 336 since it's from JE Int and 49 as 244 since there are 240 & 246 in the area...

Yes... that's good planning to start connecting services to future lines...

I think both will have good loading, but 140 will not need DDs. 41 should have DDs.

Yes... even I don't understand why they are numbering so randomly.. 49 was still okay given 51 plies to JE... but 41 at Geylang would have made more sense... and 140 at JE. Anyone has insights why such random numbering?

Hmm... For me, if 49 were to intro, it should have been somewhere close to 4x vacinities...

Something I have realised long ago is route numbering always has this rule, that is to somehow able to have a link to the numbers along the route, starting/ending/looping point... Exceptional to special services...

Ofcourse its not. Connects Kent ridge, West Coast, Clementi, Teban.... but I know the numbering system is getting more and more screwed.

Maybe that is the strategy - don't worry about the bus number... it can be anything... just bother what route it goes.

35/35M - Reminds me of old 39x Changi services. If they can do Tanah Merah loop twice, they should do Alps loop twice, then extend to Changi Village. At least Changi Ferry now got nearer bus stop. During airshow, probably will have extra trips. Regarding DDs, not sure if Ferry Terminal can u-turn or not, but will be good if possible

41 - What is with the numbering. It looks like it is meant to support 183 and connect Toh Tuck with JE. Something tells me that it may end up as a quick way to NP (Service don't ply Clementi and stops at Beauty World MRT, which is walking distance to NP)

I agree - should have merged 141 and 140 but then you know right... they have to also meet their # of services introduced quota. If you see, sv 35 is also counted as service under BSEP making it 36th service.

They need 4 more services to complete their quota of 40 services promised by 2014.

got rumour say LTA juz suka suka plan routes juz to fulfill the yearly quota leh.. not sure if this is true. 41 shud better off be renamed 331

35 shud be getting 2-3 more additional buses for the extension of 8km, extra 16km with both directions. Considering that 35 has 5 buses for it's old 17km route, 35 might get DDs considering the fact that most of the BSEP extension/routes has DD upgrades eg. 119. So 35's new route would be 33km?
