PTP?

Hi!

I am going to Enlist into the Combat Engineers on the 8th Of Sept and was wondering if it was better if I went into the PTP phase before I do my BMT.

I ask this because I got my SILVER rating for NAPFA while I was in school but I feel that am not really SILVER material. I am only very good at my Shuttle Run and Sit-ups both of which Ive scored A for but the rest I barely passed to get Silver. So as you can see am lacking in the Upper body and Stamina departments.

I would rather do the extra 4 weeks then subject myself to the expectations of BMT. Seeing as how I am a Combat Engineer.

Any thoughts?!
Do you think it would be a waste of time?

Personally I do not think it would be a waste of time.. wanted to know if anyone that has done PTP would regard it as a waste.

Oh yeah am I doing the DIRECT INTAKE if you guys were wondering, although I hear mono-intake being thrown around.. Dont really know the army terms. yet.

it also mean u stay in army for extra 4weeks.... u might not feel it now but when u near your ord u will hope u finish 4weeks earlier...

I actually most willingly opted for the PTP. I thought that rather for myself to prepare myself physically for the army... PTP allows me to be BOTH more mentally and physically prepared for the life within.... Though I should say the phase can be quite different from your BMT... But if you're not too occupied with other things in your life which you really need to do before your NS, I would say... Why not? Wink

Im actually more worried about reporting late since its quite early at 0800 and i live quite far to the east. Anyway i didn't went for my napfa since i felt that im not that physically fit, might as well go in for for PTP. Wink

You know what nothing is ever suay... If I was meant to be a combat engineer ill be a combat engineer. I dont really fancy telling everyone I am a clerk while in the army. (no offense) Sure its the most slack... but come on lah you wanna live your life a slacker?

Slack here slack there in the end learn what? Life aint some slackfest right?
Anyway when you slack your mind goes numb.. when it goes numb you might as well be dead. Cause your just some dull dude in a uniform. Do you seriously want the easy way out all the time?

Am 18 years old and life has just begun.

Anyway I am also quite confused.. One moment I see a thread about how the army is "going soft" then another thread for instance mine saying WHOA COMBAT ENGINEERS YOU SUAY!

I think it's really up to individuals..? Some people just find that they need more time to adapt to the environment or might be thinking of doing physical trainings before the enlistment...? On that basis, I think it's really quite ok...?

For others who couldn't be bothered; wish to enjoy their last moments of freedom before the enlistment; too busy or occupied; fit and / or discliplined enough... No point going in lor... Mr. Green "
