I experienced this during a period in my life as well. Now that
I think back, I believe there are several contributing
factors
- stubbornness: unwilling to accept that I was fully responsible
for the mistakes I made.
- naiveity: Lack of experience in handling the tasks given to me.
Also never bothered to ask people when I was unsure, and made
assumptions which turned out to be wrong.
- Snap decisions: I didn't bother to think though the task
thoroughly and calmly.
- Overconfidence/Lack of confidence: prior to this cock up period
in my life, I was enjoying some degree of success in what I did,
and that built up my pride such that it got in the way of learning.
Even as I realised that what I was doing was not working, I
resisted change and refused to humble myself to learn from others.
So basically, deep down my confidence was shaken, and that made me
kanchiong spider. But because of pride, I refused to accept that I
was screwing up. This is a recipe for disaster.
