Without knowing you or your character, I think it's important
that you bear in mind the notion of "reasonable expectations" can
actually be quite subjective and therefore, there really isn't a
simple "yes/no" answer to whether your expectations are
reasonable.
I mean, it's not hard to understand the kind of guys you attract
possess certain traits for a certain reason, is it? For
instance(ok, I know this example is a bit extreme and I'm not
saying this relates to your example by any stretch of the
imagination, but it kind of illustrates what I'm driving at),
chances of a mild-mannered and well-educated professional hitting
it off with an expletive-laden street thug are so remote even
billionaires wouldn't find it prudent to bet a penny on such a
proposition becoming reality.
In essence, I think it's more important that you reflect and see if
there is any unwarranted mismatch of expectations between
you and him (and if so, ponder over the measures you - by
that, I mean you and him - would like to take to improve the
relationship) rather than wondering if your expectations are
"reasonable". As most have already pointed out, one man's meat is
another's poison as there really isn't a hard-and-fast defintion of
"reasonable expectations" - afterall, two criminals could well make
a perfect couple and have perfectly reasonable expectations of each
other even if their morals and beliefs were despised by the
majority.
