Seeing that bendies can manoeuvre in CGA, LTA may actually order a24s for airport services, and negotiate with sbst.

bendies shouldnt be deployed back to back, like a22 a24 a24 a22, would prefer a24 a22 a22 a22 a24, at least 3-4 a22s in between.

is 180 actually having too many bendies(O405Gs n a24s)? like most i see are 3/4 seated only, should change a24 to a22 leh... then can cut some a24 n give 1-2 to 858 while the leftovers can go to feeder

Whole CGA Terminal is a little messy IMO...

You need to walk some distance to reach the Skytrain, MRT, Buses. The only closest form of transportation is Taxi...

Haha if a centralized bus terminal is built, they ought to make transportation as easy as finding a taxi at the airport...

With terminal 5 built from scratch, the skytrain, MRT and buses there should be better integrated... Changi Airport T5 ITH, with MRT at basement, bus int/ter at ground level, skytrain elevated?

Although for T1,2,3 (and 4), I'm not so sure if an integrated bus terminus at Jewel (as some are suggesting) would be better... it's more to connect all 3 existing terminals but doesn't lead directly to the main departure/arrival areas for each, and the current arrangement of buses going to each terminal's basement is more direct and convenient.

If the main purpose of building a new,integrated bus int at Changi T1,2,3 is just to allow DDs to ply there, I don't think that's a v good reason... SMRT has shown that bendies can now ply Changi Airport, and when GCM takes over, we'll see whether this can be done for other (currently SBST) svcs, if needed. We could also see some svcs being shortened, split or amended.

i agree with this...even though 180 dun really have much loadings during AM off peak, the load during peak and even PM off peak is huge. Often buses will be packed to the door upon reaching Jurong Town Hall (twd BP), or even before that during PM peak. I am surprised when i see random A22s doing 180 during PM peak already...

It is similar to 243 in a sense that during PM peak, the queue can go very long and the reason why we dun see it full from Boon Lay is that some chose to wait for next bus in order to get a seat...

Yes 180 load is huge during peak hours and during school dismissal hours for ITE. Used to ride I to school everyday till a few months ago. I never understood why SMRT never deployed DDs for this service, given that even 172 got DDs. There must probably be a reason behind this.

I would say A24s are more wasteful on 188. This service already has DDs to make It WAB. Shld just use O405Gs if need more HC buses and insufficient DDs. Save the A24s for 858 or feeder like 300, since they belong to KJDEP.

With 858 getting bendys and proving CGA can be bendy-friendly and deploying bendy on services like 860, I believe LTA will have to seriously consider getting bendys in limited amounts to serve these services. Anyway, LTA had never said no bendy explicitly. My prediction is that it is always under consideration but can't order till the O405Gs are gone.

Somemore on 860, Is MP make SMRT deploy bendy. It would have been easier to get a DD from BSEP, but given that a bendy is deployed, there must be a reason. Also its a matter of time before residents start to complain that 1A24 is not enough. Also quite fishy that they got a bendy deployed on 983 alongside their DDs. Don't tell me they couldn't spare one more DD.

Not to mention spare of 2 units each for 902,904 & 920 in future

If 860 doesnt get extended then they need another 3 units.

858:7 units to be safe.

Already 92 A24s..At least Wldep need 6 spare A24s,Amdep need 3-4 spare A24s and Kjdep need at least 2-3 units spare.

860 is spammed with so many buses at 02-04 minute interval that it is doing well without high capacity buses. You can see the loading observation in loading level of buses from lemon and me. Very similar. There is 30-45 minutes interval in AM peak when the crowd really surges. For just that time, you don't need more HC buses.

Having said this, 860 is only service on Ring Road, and with the number of flats coming along Ring Road, st 51, sooner or later... 860 will need a fleet like 291. But as of today, doing just fine.

860 is running at such a high frequency because of the high volume of passengers it has to cope with. SMRT and LTA probably had to run it at such a high frequency due to the lack of high capcity buses being deployed. No BSEP bendy for now and Im guessing the route is not DD-friendly (doesnt make sense why LTA will not put DDs on it for such a long time if they could have)

Since now SMRT has deployed A24 on 860, its a wiser choice to deploy more bendy and reduce the number of buses on this service. Such high frequency is not required. End of the day you use more SDs to compensate for HC buses, you take up more space, use more fuel, need extra drivers. And even after all these, 1 bendy is faster than 2 SDs. Quite insane to have 16 buses deployed on such a short route. And when more flats open, it'll be even more crazy to make the service more frequent and spam with more A22s.

But I think SMRT cant deploy too many O405Gs on this service cos its a BSEP service and has WAB status. And A24s at the moment not sufficent to go around too. 2 A24s and 2 O405Gs will be good for a start, with 8 A22s.

Come on buddy, stop fooling yourself. How many bendies are remaining on CBD services such as 106, 190, 700?

It will be sad, but very soon it will be difficult to catch a bendy bus unless you travel to northern or western suburbs.

Agreed. I prefer they deploy bendy on 860 than DD as there are more DD needy services.

180 on the contrary should have been a good DD candidate, relieving some bendies for other services such as feeder/short trunks.

By the way 180 does have a good point to point loading. It is the fastest way to connect between BPJ/Phoenix to Jurong West Ave (via bus transfer) or Boon Lay. During peak hours, buses get good 60-80 pax and most of them travel long distance.

Off-peak the story is just like other services, poor loading, but that is the pattern for 90% of services in SG.

Route not DD friendly? I wonder how many times someone or the other has said this. Please point out which part of the route is not DD friendly. Majority of its route is plied by previous 850E.

It is LACK of DDs due to which 860 did not get DDs in first place. By the time AMDEP got DDs, 860 was already stormed with 16 buses at a frequency of 03-05 mins + frequency boost with deployment of 860A. There is no need of HC buses as of now. If the first bus is crowded, the bus behind will be empty.

While I say this please note Ring Road has NEW flats with very low occupancy as of now and there are MANY MORE to come. So maybe in a year the situation will be different, and as I said before 860 may need a fleet like 10 bendy + 6 MANA22. I just don't know from where it will supply WAB bendies though.
