i am a quiet and extremely shy person with few friends even after i graduated from my poly..I seldom and in fact never go to class outing cause i cant get along, recently dono for what reason i decided to pluck up my courage and decied to join a bbq gathering..

The prob is the bbq is tomorrow and i am extremely nervous cause i am very shy and i always just cant open my mouth to talk because i got this problem of repeating my words when i am nervous...I am always thinking will i screw up and embarrasse myself tommorrow Crying or Very sad Wads wrong with me!!!! Cant i live a normal life

Right now i cant sleep cause i am too nervous, even my heartbeat is very fast now should i just call the orgainzer and say i could't make it?

haha, i want to laugh coz last time i am worst than you... always hiding in one corner of the gathering... got once, i see the girl i like walk down the stairs and i turn around to face the wall, don't dare to see her... but now... Twisted Evil after going out with quite a few gatherings, i am becoming a monster, terrorising people and i think practise makes perfect, so go out more often soon you will get used to it.

anyways, to the thread starter, i guessed everyone was shy once ba. i was super shy last time too. i went my boyfriend's house bai nian..then he got so many relatives..and i dunno where to sit or what to do. and i just sat on a chair, staring at the wall to calm myself down. siao one hor.
i understand ur nerves...isn't anyone you know going with you? stick with that person and try to make new frens...participate in games...just enjoy yourself yeaps! ^^

I am a shy person too, but this is what I advise you to do. You should treat your friends in the outing like someone who you are close to (like your best friend,father, mother or siblings), then it will eliminate the nervous feeling. And dun be afraid because they are your friends not someone who will laugh at your mistakes.

I would like to ask u some questions

First, do u feel that when u r in a crowd people will look at u, even they are not?

Second, u hav a intense fear of being embarassed and humilated in front of people? U will also feel the need to avoid groups of people to avoid embarassement?

Third, do u feel sometimes when in front of people u feel that u are gona lose control of urself?

Lastly u feel sudden panic and anxiety for no reasons, even when u are alone

Then if so u hav SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER.....
Cos i hav the EXACTLY same symptons as u 2 years ago back then it was worse, scared and nervous when EVEN toking to guys, i figure i gona hav nervous breakdown....went to IMH and was given prozac medications everyday since then, better but not fully recovered...now can talk and joke with gals Embarassed
