If I may explain.. there is a serious issue.. coupled with
stupid planning.
This is typically what happens for 315... it gets around 45-50
pax from Interchange (those shopping at NEX or wanting to ensure
seat take it from interchange). Now there are many who transfer to
315 at stop outside NEX... Bare in mind that if 22/53 have not
called before, lot of Boundary road residents also take
315...
So those from Serangoon North 1 are at a big disadvantage
because they might not get to board. If you see 315 beyond Boundary
road, people can easily board.
Stupid planning because LTA could have just introduced 315A that
terminates at last stop of Serangoon North Ave 1 and comes off
service back to interchange and starts next trip. 3 DDs on 315A
could be deployed for this. Similarly 315 downroute could be
operated from North Ave 1 in AM.
I feel bad for residents of North Ave 1 who have only one long
winding service to interchange. In AM still okay because they get
to board easily. In PM, it is hit or miss. Hence, like stupid buses
have been added constantly to 315 instead of having some DDs that
would clear the load instead or introducing 315A.
To begin, I shall say everything happen for a reason. As a
regular commuter for 315, I would say that your observation is
there but 60% only. Boundary Rd pax are not the one adding to the
demand. These group of ppl are secondary, cause most pax actually
alighted at Serangoon Garden which I would say about 40% of the
loading.
Te loading have been increasing since it re-routed to the New
Serangoon Int. The loading sector is not purely Serangoon - North
Ave 1, but along multiple point of the route, including North Ave
4/5 back to Serangoon.
hence 315A wouldn't solve the problem. Furthermore, DD
deployment would not be full utilized even though how I wish it is
deployed with DD. To add on, 315 DD is not cleared for DD
due to several reason and that's why DD have not been
deployed.
In the case of 116, the loading itself is already beyond it's
current capacity provision. And the current route is to provide
better access from Blk 516 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 to Serangoon (The lost
connection upon amendment of 315 to North Ave 5) , so it would be
best to remain untouched.
