Just wondering. Since there can be a new roadside bus
terminal at Lakeside (Hu Ching Road), can there also be one at
Pioneer (for instance, at Jurong West Street 93[at where the
construction site was during Boon Lay MRT Extension construction],
Jurong West Street 91[at the westernmost HDB estate],
etc.)?
Well, I know SBS Transit has been using Jurong West Street
71 as a "waiting area" for buses to be deployed mainly to routes
243W and 243G during peak hours. Maybe LTA should learn from SBS
Transit and construct a roadside bus terminal near Pioneer MRT
Station, so that new bus routes can be introduced without further
congesting Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
On second thought, perhaps LTA should make use of the Soon Lee
Bus depot nearby.
After all, when the bus contracts model is implemented, the bus
depots would probably all be acquired by the government and be used
by bus operators with contracts. (I've mentioned this before.
there is a likelihood
that 1 bus depot could be used by more than one bus
operator) So, why can't LTA create bus routes that originate
from bus depot?
Hence, if anyone wants to create bus routes that
originates from Boon Lay Bus Interchange, please re-route it to
Soon Lee Bus Depot.
That is a very valid point.
In many countries, a lot of bus routes start from depots itself
and not always bus stations / interchanges / terminals.
Over here, apart from a very few, depots are not leveraged at
all for routes.
