They will definitely give a bulk of DDs to Sv 190... But SMRT does not have experience with DDs... Why add to the problems of 190... Better to try out on 963...

Can Lor 1 handle DDs? Vaguely recall someone saying Sv62 loops at Lor 1 because of DD issues.

Geylang lor one why cannot handle dd buses? There are many dd buses pass by there. I am sure Smrt will control the speed of the bus. Of cos if the driver turning conder like f one driver humm. I wonder how sbst control their dd buses ?

Will the Enviro500 be able to ply RWS8 and RWS88?

I asked this question because two things: O405 buses, and SMB22Y. Even with refurbishment, the O405 buses have to go sooner or later, and so we need two of these DDs to replace 'em, but is the height restriction for vehicles on the Sentosa Gateway into the RWS carpark too low for the DD? I'd like to know.

And as for SMB22Y...just ride it for yourself, it seems to be SP the whole time before the service was introduced. One instance is the noisy hydraulics not heard in other OC500LEs. Also, the interior. Not to mention the rear door having some problems.

So back to my question, will the Enviro500 be able to ply RWS8 and RWS88?

First of all, I never said it MUST be Enviro500. All I asked was the possibility. Also,

1) Why must it NOT be Enviro500? There's already a Citaro, 2 OCs and a lot of O405 buses which will deregister in due time, and perhaps an Enviro500 or two can replace them. Sure, it's more feasible to deploy A22, but I was just asking about the height restriction.

2) While the frequency isn't too bad, more tourists may or may not take RWS8 over the never-not-crowded Sentosa Express, and we need to assure them that they have a seat like 49 having DDs even though demand is not exactly that high. Especially the holiday season when everyone wants to go....

So back to my question, can a Enviro500 bus ply RWS8, RWS88 and 188R?

Yea, the RWS8 OCs are terrible... Interior dirty, noisy engine sounds and spolit equipment. I still try to always take the Hispano O405s (both OAC and CAC) on RWS8, because I can be assured of a good ride in and/or our of Sentosa. Those Hispano O405s have not lost their shine in running all these years.

Height should not be an issue for the Enviro500 MMC. A Transtar double-decker coach does regular services to RWS.

However in practice RWS8 faces the issues similar to deploying double-decker buses on short-distance/feeder services, and neither 188R nor 963R is ever going to get the demand it needs to justify double-decker buses. RWS88 does not exist anymore.

As for the condition of the OC500LE, it comes down to maintenance. Give the Enviro500 MMC a bit of time and your ride experience is not going to be too different from the OC500LE.

soon things will change when LTA buy over all the buses. hopefully for the good of the people have a good maintenance on the buses. or LTA should look into how to set a standard on bus maintenance. every month bus send for Perventive maintenance like taxi? not enougn bus on the road? let those PTE bus company come in to take over the time slot. if not then news will come out a SMRT DD bus burn on the road.

What I meant was of all the choices(with SDs), why did you choose a DD? Is it because of the demand or what?

And since you mentioned that you never said it must be Enviro500, why you mentioned must it NOT be Enviro500?

I'm not so sure about the demands but I don't think it's needed for everyone to have a seat as they will be alighting very soon..even people are packed on the Sentosa Monorail during PH/Weekends/Holiday..

Plus you mentioned the may or may not take RWS8, so what's the purpose of deploying these Enviro? A little wastage of resources...

I think they will clean it only when it's refurbishment time...they hardly got time to care for their interior apart from engine overhaul/air-con fixture etc.[mainly the important areas] or they only care abt the good ones...

Aiya OCs have noisy engine sounds one..but never heard a worst one than CDGE/MAN/Scania..

Actually they should reuse their Hispano O405s for other purpose..instead of scraping. I was hoping that LTA were to pass on these Hispano O405s to "loan" private operators for PPSS. It's way better than using coach buses.

I can only imagine that SMRT wants to get rid of the 0405s ASAP and no sane pte operator will purchase that bus.

Unless you wanna kill your operating costs operating that fuel-guzzling thing.

They got rid of the Lances, L113s early because those were even worse to maintain.

Not wanna backing up but those O405s is no more relevant cause MB already slow down on the spare parts also which meaning cost more than before..The A22s,Citaros and OCs consuke less fuel than the Euro 1 O405s..Even the O405Gs seems to guzzle fuel..Bo pian xlcause no more high capacity in their fleets
