HAHAHAHAHAHAH a similar experience happened to me. Hamster was
supposed to pick up a friend from the airport, & I told him to
call me when he reached home safely.
Happened that my mobile phone's alarm clock ringtone & the ring
tone for calls was the same. So when my alarm sounded, I answered,
"Hallo? Hallo?" but there was No sound, so I thought Hamster hung
up & went back to sleep. Turned out I'd turned off my alarm
clock 
Thankfully, Hamster called 15 mins later to inform me he'd reached
home
Otherwise, I would've been late for work.
As for your cat part... Erm, it's still the 7th month leh 
I'm very dan3 xiao3, please don't give me sleepless
nights, thank you When I watched the maid on National Day, I stayed
awake tossing & turning all night
