Honestly, if the operators have an opportunity to dump DDs onto those CGA svcs, they would have jumped at the chance to do that. Unfortunately because of how they had built the Terminals & their subsequent basement PTBs, they can only use SDs.

Otherwise, a DD slot for every 2 SDs is a very easily achievable target. haha. Then your bunching probs won't occur that much already because 1 DD can carry 2 SDs' worth of pax.

No surpise right. This is the same case for most CGA services that often get held up even at CGA while going from one terminal to another. This is the same reason why we also see sv 27 bunch so much. Same with 858; it is also worse because of the long route right from Woodlands looping at CGA.

858 needs some downroutes and/or shortworking trips to separate the loading. maybe something similar to 502A/518A, between woodlands and CGA, while skipping sembawang and yishun, which can separately be served by downroutes/swt to CGA.

I mean,

If CGA ever wants to achieve DD-accommodation for the bus svcs plying CGA, it is not really becoz of structural failure in the long run, but whether they want to anot. Jewel Project would be the deciding factor, as it is a chance for CGA to construct a general DD-friendly int inside the "Jewel". It's not hard trust me. Don't gimme shit coz its equally painful and hard for the ppl to have to pack in, and for the buses to twist and turn at narrow alleyways inside the basement too.

All future interchanges/depots will be DD friendly. Even all new roads that are constructed (main roads I mean) will be DD friendly such that bridge height is atleast >4.5m

Agreed. 24, 27, 36 would have been best candidates for majority DD fleet then. 34 also could have got 2 DDs. 858 yes depending on SMRT getting DDs. In all, all CGA services have high loading and would have benefited.

858 does have shortworking trip 858A to Yishun interchange and also downroutes to Woodlands Interchange. After it departs from Yishun towards CGA, there is anyway only one stop at Jalan Kayu and then directly CGA.

People from Woodlands normally take 168 and then change to 858 at Jalan Kayu. Both are express services and bring people to CGA pretty fast.

24 isn't the best. There are other svcs who need it more eg. 53.

KUBs currently are managing the load well. Well I guess u could have some DDs, but it's definitely not the BEST to have MAJORITY DDs.

CGA services actually do not require DDs,,,
It is the route in between that is causing the heavy passenger loading, esp for 36,53
858 needs super improved capacity, like 966, evening peak at certain times 5 buses along M Parade Rd in 5minutes... no other service in SG beats this...

I beg to differ,rail lines dont exactly stop near housing estates..Majority of airport workers like the direct link to their homes without the hassle of transfers and using escalators though rail is an advatage for those living beyond eastern areas.24,27,858 just need split DDs while 36 & 53 can just do with 4 DDs.34 just need to boost its freq

Even off peak afternoon can be a disaster to 27, many students all round the east rely on this sole svc to return to the NE areas (only svc connecting Tampines/Upp Changi (transfer 31 to ITE) to Sengkang and HG, the three important towns).

187, 189 need... The others don't in my opinion. 184 doing okay... The Ngee ann - clementi part taken well care of by increased capacity on both 52 and 154.

I agree... If 27 would have DDs it would anyway have 20 DDs and 7 SDs... Something like that... So there would be a good # of DDs doing AP.
