Dear CannyOng,
It's normal to develop warmer feelings towards those you're closest
with. I'm very fond of my close guy friend, who, sadly, went
overseas to London in March this year (on my damn birthday itself
)
to work. When the London blasts occurred, I called his house in a
panic to obtain his London no. (prior to that, we kept in touch via
email) & called screaming, "Ohmigawd, ohmigawd, I'm so GLAD
you're ok!".
In my case though, it's a fondness that has been built up over
time, more than 10 years, & we care very deeply about each
other. But it's something that's warm, I don't get that melting
feeling like I get when I'm with my guy. I don't have the urge to
reach out & hold my friend's hand. I don't have the urge to
kiss my friend (GROSS). I don't have the urge to... oh nevermind,
the thought of it is yucky enough. It's something really like an
older brother-younger sister thing. My guy knows about it, & is
fine with it.
In a nutshell, you may be confused by the joy of getting close to a
friend with feelings of the heart. True love is Not so fickle that
you'll fall in love with every girl you're close to. But falling in
love with the special someone closest to your heart is the most
wonderful thing in the world.
