Haha. Anyway they are making life much easier for all my juniors while we are suffering.. I tell u, Comp Engn in NTU is a slaughter house man... Everytime we have exams, the professors actually lock us up in the examination hall and take out their "machine guns" and they massacre all of us.. Very Happy

I think if I go and make the statement "econs can be picked up by ur own" in London School of Economics or some other Econs school then they will all kill me! Razz

Be a doctor.. seriously.. If you take engineering, your company will eventually replace you with a cheaper, talent engineer from overseas..

If you take economics.. not sure about the prospects but from what I heard its just a general degree??

None of the degrees have a good future.. the only one of guaranteed rice bowl is to become a doctor.. Mad

But dear friend being a doctor isn't easy man.. First of all you need to get excellent grades to make it there. Then its a 5 year course and its very very expensive. Not many families can take up that kinda financial burden.

But of coruse it can reap very well.

And they don't replace u with an overseas guy just like that. If you prove that you can perform well, be a leader, motivate your team members and set an example they will be more then glad to pay u higher bonuses and probably give you promotion.. Yep..

My results were good but not good enuough to be a doctor. Even if they were I wouldn't even think of taking Doctor man.. Just not my cup of tea.

If you want to study economics, you have to aim high, very high and work towards a Masters or PhD in Public Policy or Finance.

the whole point about economic knowledge(same with business) is using what your have learnt to help you make big bucks..thats what 99.99999999 % of singaporeans don't understand. Laughing

Actually not true... a 2As 2Bs person can get in where a 4As person cant.. surprisingly very few 4As pple get in... their criteria is to get someone with a more hands on approach instead of 4As pple who just reiterate knowledge only..

Yeah.. medicine is damn expensive..

Problem is when a company wishes to cut costs, they would start with pple like us... technical skills that can be replaced without loss of quality since there is an abundance of foreign talent asking for less.. then theres the mentality that foreign talents are much more qualified since they graduate from "prestigious" colleges...

What about doing a degree in mathematics?

If you are interested in investment banking, a mathematics degree would be very useful. Opens the door to derivatives, trading or research. Do a minor in econs.

I majored in econometrics and I'm in IB now. If I could turn back the clock, I would do a maths degree.
