heheh exactly.
I think the problem in Singapore is that for many women
the FEAR of being misconstrued is very real
because there ARE still a lot of people who
read more depth and intention to it..
and it stops them from being friendly ba
cos you can never tell from face value
who's just friendly, and who's going to be a "stalker" waiting for
you
at the bus stop everyday thinking you are interested in him
simply cos you had a chat with him
(Or even gave him ur email/number)
And the worst thing is, if you complain to someone this happen, the
blame will be inadvertently on the girl "You dont like him what for
go and talk to him!?!"
In a culture where friendliness is a social norm, casual
conversation and friendship with the opposite sex is considered
very normal (No need to have repeated topics saying "CAN guys and
GIRLS be FRIENDS only?!), I think the pressure is a lot less.
In our immediate social context, while there ARE many open minded
(AND I don't mean this in the "looking for open-minded girls" type
of 'open minded) and sensible people around. Unfortunately the
number is not the majority yet.
And ultimately, its the mindless mob that kills. Not the
enlightened few.
