SMRT Buses is bringing in 572 new buses as part of its fleet growth
and renewal strategy, including, for the first time, 201
double-decker models. The company says this is its largest fleet
renewal and growth initiative, and that it reaffirms its commitment
to offering commuters the “highest standards in safety,
reliability, care and comfort”, according to a statement issued
today (April 2).
The company added that 218 of the new buses are being introduced
and funded under SMRT’s participation in the Land Transport
Authority’s Bus Service Enhancement Programme.
The first batch of about 30 new buses are expected to be put into
service in July this year.
