I doubt so? SMRT does more of corrective maintenance
(which I mean happens when something major fails on the bus,
eg the engine cannot start, engine fire, explosive tyre blow-outs,
crashes). If there's minor issues like electronics not working
correctly, or the cleanliness onboard the buses, they usually don't
fix it leh, until something else major fails on the bus.
SBST does more of preventive maintenance instead? They clean
their buses & service their buses more regularly though, to
prevent future problems from happening.
I've not seen a SBST bus experience a tyre blow-out yet lately,
only spotted one VO3x with a partially deflated tyre along a route.
But for SMRT, i've seen quite a few Bendies & Rigids having
explosive tyre blow-outs (which if you put into F1 or motorsports
context, means the tyre rips apart completely into fragments
leaving the rim exposed and the fragments of the disintegrated tyre
on the road behind). That's quite a difference.
And then the difference in cleanliness..I think this one everyone
knows by now uh.
I have to admit SBST does a better job in servicing. I have ever
saw one 180 bus with the A/C duct painting wearing off and showing
it, I suspect they sprayed the whole thing though.
