hi everyone!

just watched the show hosted by Diana Ser, Get Real! It dawned on mi the sadness of being alone in an old age... with no one ard to look after you.. waiting for days to go by... where are all their children?hmmm...

They got a 95% blind man to approach passer-bys and asked if they could help him to get him soem food, as he's inconvenient. I'm glad that most of them lend a helping hand, except for one or two who left without saying anything...

if you are the one, will you also help him out, and get him a pack lunch or dinner, even if you're bzy, in such a society like this where time is money as everyone's living in a rat race..

in the past i would.. without hesitation...

but too many have taken advantage of the kindness of strangers.. too many have abused it simply because they were too lazy or refused to earn an honest day's wage... they'd rather go panhandling and living off the kindness of strangers...

until we have become calloused to those who are really in need...

i wonder how many are really in need, and how many of them are just scamming others...

Giving food to someone who is hungry is fine but I won't buy tissues from those healthy old folks who approach u at hawker centres. I rather donate to old folks homes.
I guess those who are old & childless are quite pityful. Hopefully have lots of nieces & nephews for company

I am rather suspicious of ppl who ask for money here...maybe cos a lot of ppl tend to take advantage of ppl's kindness and misuse it lor...

i know what you mean.. there are indeed such pple.

for me, it depends on the amt. If it's a mere $1 or $2, i'll give them the benefit of doubt. My principle is: i did the right thing by being kind, the "crook" will have to answer for his actions

Yeah. Just like the bear, I think I'm already quite skeptical about these things.

If possible, don't donate money to those individuals. Try to provide service. If they want food, then buy the food for them instead of giving them money to buy food.

Once there was this blind man who was at the MRT station asking people for money to buy him a fare ticket.

I approached the station control and asked if it's possible to spare a free ride for the poor man.

The station control guy said that blind man was a scammer.

And they let him wander in the MRT station without doing anything.

got one time, i was waiting for a train wif my frens, then this guy came over and "demanded" we donate money to him. When we refused to, the guy suddenly wanted to beat up one of my frens. Luckily my fren got black belt in taekwondo so he ran away in the end,....

To me, some of those 'crooks' will never learn untill they are caught. In the meanwhile, it's those kind people who are taken advantaged.

i came across this ah pek in Chinatown who will goes around asking for $ in the hawker centre. And when the pple dont give, he'll give them a mouthful of vulgarities. Won't donate to such a person either Rolling Eyes

I have a hard time feeding myself, let alone others.
But yes, of course i wud help him but only if i have the spare food. I donate money to appropriate channel but not directly to beggars.

someone asked me to buy his tissue paper 3 for 1 dollars...
after i buy already i saw him lighting a ciggeratte..
i tink he`s much richer than me..

i was only juz a student w 100 bux monthly allowance..

I would in the past but no longer.

Just too many scammers around taking advantage of the charitable hearts of people. However, if they are asking for help like, asking for food instead of money. Yes I won't hesitate.

hardened by the scams out there. you don't see animals taking advantage of their own species' charity do you? humans do that though.
