If you think your partner is the right one and both of you want to settle down and have a family of your own, I dont see why you can't.

If you cannot afford a house... you can rent/stay with parents
If your income is too low to cover your daily expenses, you can take 2 jobs/your partner won't mind helping out.

Most importantly is whether or not you are READY TO settle down.

Its not so easy for a couple to scrap by on $1.5k each month.

Takes alot of hard work... and almost little to no play...

All this poor soul is asking for advise. Have you ever asked someone what to do in life? Do not start by making non-constructive and biased remarks.

I know of families who strive on the bare minimum income which is around $600 now. Sure life is difficult, it really means no tv, no internet, no fancy computer games... always looking upon charity donations or salvation army for clothes or going to temples every sunday for free food.

That's wat I am saying rite, pple are making lot less but still make do....our fren earns 1.5K and is worried about having a gf...and about the racist comment, I am chinese myself, and I was just repeating wat a Malay taxi driver once told me..chinese all have no balls...want wife to be educated lah, earn money to help out in family lah..etc etc...But wat they do not know is dat there are many happy families who make do with less money monthly..but they are happy precisely becos they focus on the right attitudes and values in life...Being sympathetic is sometimes not the wisest thing to do...He wants gf, but wants gf to earn a certain amount of money so life can be better...wat sort of attitude is this...If u want money find old rich widow to marry lah...this is constructive cos that's wat he wants...

1.5k is not enough - forget it of a girl tells you your luv is so strong that money means nothing. coz money and livelihood will be the topic of your likely erguments if both of you do not at least have a stable income to maintain or start a family. som1 offered some good advise, go MY with your 1.5 and turn it into 3.0 - marry my girls - the fastest train to take.

I beg to differ. The one in red highlights reasons why singapore's birth rate is declining. There are some ppl in our society who earns minimal and just enough for themselves but they stil had a few children. Being a parent is about sacrificing for the good of ur children. Ur fren could just save a meal or two or save on abit of his own expenses in order to buy his child a toy or wat.

Think about our parents and grandparents era, they dun earn much and yet they could bring up a few children. It may not be all luxuries to the children but at least they get to eat and sleep well. Tts how our parents were brought up. I think we can learn from them.

If u really think u want to settle down, u got to plan ahead. There is such a thing call saving up. IF u wan to get married at ard 20+, u can think of plans. Whether it is with ur future wife or wat. Together u can work things out. Thats how problems are solved.

We do not simply say not enuff money or give a reason and do nothing to chage. OR rather give a reason and dune ven try to solve the problem. I am not responding to any campaigns or what, i just feel problems tt arises can be solved and not just simply give a reason and just kick it aside.

Well it depends on you.

Earning $1.5K or $5.1K do made some difference. However you can discuss with your gf on how to make end meets.

I have seen a few couples both earning less than $2K combine and yet they survive thru the harsh environment. So I do not think it will be that hard for you.
