From what advice I've seen the other posters give, I personally
would conclude that it is entirely possible to do it face-to-face
without scaring her off. Chances are that you'll be more scared
than she will! 
From what I've seen, you're swinging from one end of the scale to
the other. You're getting all nervous about it, then you say you
don't care. Get yourself sorted out and get into that comfortable
space in the middle before you do anything. It's casual, not "the
end of the world" or "I don't care". All the best!
