take the words as it is. he might be flirting with you to 'test'
your character for possible future development.
i believe that w/o the problems you are having with your current
bf, you won't feel the need to entertain this new guy.
sort out the problem first, if really can't then tell yr bf gd bye,
but don't rush and grab the next guy, possiblilly this guy, so
