Yes it's totally possible 
and it's very much happening around us ! They are in
love with each other before they even meet ... but sometimes, when
they meet, they find that the other is too ugly or sorts, and they
will be rejected... That's usually what happens, so unless you're
positively sure that he/her is not hiding anything from you, and
he/she is really who they claim they are, then it is totally
possible ... as i said earlier lol =)
