Pain confirm will have when extracting the 2-4 teeth out of ur mouth to create some allowance for the rest of ur teeth to shift to the correct direction. The other pain will be the regular tightening of the braces, but will get use to it soon enough...

Once upon u put it on, u can say goodbye (for a couple of years) to those hard-to-chew food... mine have difficulties eating ribs and apples during those times cos of the increase sensitive in ur teeth...

Dun worry... juz endure it for a few years or shorter and u will get ur prefect straighten teeth... juz like mine... Very Happy

really? but some ppl say the extraction part not that pain …its the tightening .. they inject this funny thing on the gum.. izzit pain? oh.. i am 17 … dun worry think no one is too late to correct its teeth

The tightening is the painful part as your mouth will be unable to take solid food for a few days.Extraction is a 1 off thing,so it's not so bad,ehehe Very Happy

I heard that even after straightening, regular wear of the retention is still required as your teeth can still move after straightening. Is that true?

A few friends have told me that they had their teeth straightened before, then after some time, they have become crooked......

Wearing of the retainer is a must immediately after wearing braces.But i threw my retainers about 6 months after wearing it and i didn't notice any change in my teeth after 6 years of not wearing the retainer,ehehe Very Happy

The retainer has a few variations depending on ur dentist. Mine is the wire type like what moose had said. But my frenz got the transparent mould type...

depends on the severity of your teeth.
the dentist would normally have to extract some teeth to make room. normally top and bottom molars.

there will be pain for a few days, as tension is put on the teeth to bring them home Wink

but after a while, u just cannot tahan and need to eat that laksa and kuay teow... so just bear with it for a year or two.
