RaTtY8l SG those were the days where i could feel the passion of football in singapore but now, theres hardly any passion in singapore football left. those were 1 of the best days in singapore football
neeyh SG Thank you for posting it up. People like me don’t know much about the glory that the Singapore football team brought us.
new_b SG A bit off topic.. but i remember two of singapore imports during tht time.. Alistair Edwards and abas Saad Yeah, i agree, i prefer to watch Malaysia footballin the early 90's football rather than now... i uised to imagine i was one of the Malaysian state team players and i can even name some of them
Marco_Simone SG Malek Awab,Hasnin Haron,Zulkifi Kartayoho,Borhan Abu Samah,K Kannan,Craig Foster,Warren Spink,Suliat Dali,Kadir Yahaya...these are some more prominent names... what u mention sg football today,it's like "WTF?"
rojak12 SG It is exactly the rivalry between Singapore and Malaysia that makes the Malaysia Cup format so interesting. The longer we stick with Sleague and with kids growing up watching EPL, Singapore soccer and local soccer fan will never have the kind passion that we used to have. 1970's (Kim Song et al) days was probably the time when Singaporean really come together to cheer the national team. Fans often got injured (some fatal) just to get into the National Stadium to watch Singapore play.
Urroh SG So serious? I grow up watching them too.. K. Kannan, Malek Awab, Micheal Vana.. . Terry P. etc.. all of them are heros to us in those days. I think all of singapore is watching Our last malaysian cup final, when ever Singapore Lions scored, there will be shouts all over HDB Estates. Too bad we left the Malaysia Semi-pro and Things is not quite the same after. When the national stadium is demolished, Kallang wave will be gone and the old atmosphere will never be back. Balek Kampong..
Urroh SG dun forget the younger players then, u all had heard of them even now, Rafi Ali, Nazri Nasir, V Selvaraj. Older players then is David Lim, best goalkeeper ever, melak awab, Borhan Abu Samad.
Fatum SG and people felt differently about "foreign talents" then .... alastair edwards, abbas saad .....
kopiosatu SG i miss malaysia cup. i would go to the stadium with my secondary school friends to watch the matches. even my father would drive us there in the van sometimes. the fun and cheering after a victory is unlike anything we've seen in singapore for a long time. MRT trains would come into kallang MRT station doing the familiar airhorn sequence for "Butok" Traffic will always have no choice but to stop for the masses who cross the road. Damn the S-league.
rojak12 SG I think you are refering to David Lee not David Lim. Personally, I think Edmund Wee was the best keeper Singapore had so far. David is very commanding with crosses but very average/shaky with grounders.
kopiosatu SG who's the guy before david lee? ahmad something? can't remember his name... i know bashir khan was before him.
RaTtY8l SG somehow i think the s league is destroying singapore rather than building it…. no more passion left in s league. wats left is the swearing of referee kayu in matches….
Fatum SG we got kicked out of the league soon after winning the cup .... i guess some chaps are just sore losers huh ...
Marco_Simone SG I rem got one song named the "Dream Team" sang by all the Lions. It even went on Perfect 10 Top 10 for a while. It goes like this Come on everybody feel the power Feel the steam we're the dream team
