Anyone in the forum believes in love at first sight, or izit purely infatuation?
Do pple nowadays fall in love that easily? Shouldn't we understand the person more before expressing our love for that person? My frd adviced me not to be frds with a girl you love for too long, must express your love as soon as possible, not more than a week a/f u know her before the chemistry between us disappear,
Any one had views on how long we should know a person before we can determine if we love that person?

Well, I believe love can develop from first sight. I personally feel that love that is slowly built up from a purely platonic relationship is rare. Most of the time, we get interested to find out more about someone when we are attracted to that person physically. As time goes by we will have a clearer picture of the person and love may develop as a result.
Actually its quite true that sometimes u need to "stike while the iron is hot". When we see no action, we tend to feel that the guy is not interested and as a result our interest declines too. So it might be a good idea to let her know how you feel and things might work out well in the end, who knows? Smile

Thanks for all your replies, I agree that there's platonic relationship between guys & gals, but somehow if u know the gal for too long, both of u really seems to be only ordinary frds cos u really understand her so much that there's already not much for both of u to b involved in a relationship and to understand each other anymore, agreed? Any objections, huh?

Think I'm the first to disagree wif it.. Coz as far as I know between there is always something that is hidden from each other when they are frenz. It's some bad habits that one will not show.. Dun believe think u can ask most pple.. hee hee... Actually no matter the frenship is short one or long one.. u will still understand her fully sooner or later..

U will bound to understand her fully, that is if u r looking a long-term r/s.. To me, it's not worth mentioning, if it's juz for fun... I rather be single if I'm looking for short-term happiness.. spoils the whole meaning of a r/s... Personal pt of view...

Well, the suspense about each other will dimished, and excitement declines, giving rise to lose of interest.

I agree wif u.. If both of u aren't frens.. wat's the foundation of love going to build on?? Not being frens means that both of u dunno know each other, and this can be very bad to the r/s.. It's really surprising how frenship between a girl and a boy can develop into love.. It's natural... In fact, it's a natural attraction.. coz for some, u know that this boy can never be ur bf, and neither will this girl be ur gf.. U somehow knows it.. And I'm not saying that there must definitely be love in order for a girl and boy to be good frenz...

Worse is to get married already then u found that both of u actually cannot get along... and the worst thing to do is to divorce, when u haf kids... U will be surprised by the way 5-6 yrs old kids look at the mater.. they actually know wat's going on... It's going to hurt them a lot.. and it's not fair to them too..

I think there's only lust at first sight, no matter how heavenly it feels. You are either attracted to the beauty of the face or the beauty of the body.

Love is a decision not a feeling. Yes, its true we all feel something special when we see very beautiful people. Does that mean we gonna change bf/gf everytime you see someone and you feel that 'something'?

I don't agree, and I don't believe in platonic friendships, although I wonder why, it can't happen... Well, no one can understand one person fully, no one, ask yourself, do you really understand yourself fully?? If you dun understand yourself fully, how can someone who is only a friend, to understand u totally, inside out?!

I agree u that it's likely to be lust on first sight. But not on loving someone being a decision. Coz I still feel that to love someone is also a feeling... I'm sure u haf heard of couples who quarrel everytime rite?? but it's just harmless quarrels, they just feel that it adds more life to the r/s.. But If u are think over it logically this kind of r/s will not work out... Or in another situation, one went overseas for quite a long period of time, if the mind rules over the heart, beginning to be overwhelmed with suspision, things will turn sour.. Or maybe u felt that u are lacking of someone to hold u or to hug u... It's not a good thing to use ur head too.. Coz, any practical person will see the worthlessness to keep the r/s.

If u feel wif ur heart, the love that u haf for him.. No matter where and how long the time of absence, u will still be there for him... Love is still a feeling. And sadly so is lust...

But seriously, i think before love can happen..there has to be at least friendship in existence. Love that results from friendship tends to last longer and perhaps forever becos both parties know each other well before so it's like having a best friend beside you...

Hi,

I guess love is really at first sight for my case. Because when u see that gal, u really feel something, u feel that u want to know her more and wanted to be a friend at least. There are many good gals out there and it just would take time, some luck to knock into one. When I felt that something could be started if I see one, I will try to make friends first. If she really sees that u are committed and honest with her, I think u should stand a chance. I believe in making the first move as a guy.

Love at first sight: Very seldom. Cos u do not know the other party well enough. U are only physically attracted to him/her. I rather called it lust at first sight. Smile

Platonic Friendship: Yes. It can be done but u must be careful while handling this type of relationship. It might turn out to be affection, which might lead to either good or bad consequences.

U might know your friend inside out, but define "inside out". There will still be some minor details u might not know about him/her.
