and if there arent any economical bike besides S4

can someone do a comparison for me between S4 and Hornet 250.

For real economies, then you have to look at the older bikes then the newer bikes with electronics.

And since you are thinking of naked bikes. Here's my selection:

1) Suzuki Bandit 400
2) Honda S4 Ver S
3) Honda Hornet 250
4) Ducati Moster 400

But nothing beats fuel economy then any 2b bikes.

Can someone actually tell me the difference between Version S, Spec 1, 2, and 3?

I only know the tail for Spec 3 is much nicer then the rest. I tried asking SBF about these for a few times but noone ever replies this answer. Crying or Very sad

When Honda started out with 400cc. They roughly came up with the following:

CB1
Ver R
Ver S
Spec I
Spec II
Spec III
Spec III with cowling.

The specs is of course the newer versions with more electronics, including the HISS system & probably fuel injections and stuffs.

But my preferences for the pre-spec version has to be because, they are like tanks, with hardly any electronics that can fail me in times or rough riding & rain.

i ever read an article of comparison between ver s,spec 1,2, and 3 before.

basically spec 1 was just a vtec version of version S,with a few tweaks.

spec 2 and 3 are almost the same,only minimal differences,but i forgot what are the differences..

PB1s are quite common in sg,the only version of S4 that is very very very rare is the version R.

my bro was one of the few who rode ver R before,and he said there are only few ver R that made it in sg at that time(which was close to 11 years ago)

Ermmm...I think its true. My ver s made that sort of distance before.

But the maintenance, changing of spark plugs, brake pads, engine oil is kinda shiong too.

It all depends on how u ride ur bike,
Tyre condition also play a part.
Exhuast change also play a part to FC

I own a S4 spec II all part orginal

FC is around $28 for 250km (I pump 9 Cool
250km indicate the alert to pump petrol.
my speed usually 110km/hr
my valve usually open at gear.4~5

S4 is a good bike, i dun think much people will sell it unless they are upgrading

The highest cost of maintence comes when the bike reach age of 5 years old
many part require to change.

Thats all i can tell you about S4.

and i just again ask my work fren his ver S can hit 350km..i think its very very good.

similar to an rxz...

thot of buying cbr400 before..but drop the idea since i know how hard it is to maintain an SP when ur tight of cash

Err, what's expensive about maintaining SP?

I'm riding one now but I feel that besides the petrol, 2t and the normal servicing, there isn't much to maintain unless you're modding lots of things?

Sorry getting off-topic here just wanna know where did your maintainance costs go to.

is not that its expensive but the frequency of maintaining it,and furthermore i have a tight budget,so i keep worrying whenever i ride it thinking when will it die on me..coz u noe..2 strokes.

while for 4 stroke..i feel that the engine is very smooth and i hardly think that itll spoil that easily.

so yea..its a matter of budget.

for this S4 later if its right,ill save up first before buying it to save my @ss

Yea, when I tried riding on my friend's 4 stroke cruiser, it indeed felt very smooth. Can't wait to upgrade to class 2A Crying or Very sad

spec1, 2 and 3 got vtec. Tyres aso bigger and the tank is broader. Fast, but not as good for fc compared to ver s/r and project big 1.

s4 ver s is ur best bet. Some s4 ver s can get to 400km before reserve. Juz pump at JB once a week lor.

Is Vtec something like valve? Reach a certain RPM and it will accelerate fast?

yeah..Vtec stands for valve-tec(donno the rest)..its honda exclusive,its something where u only use 2 valves before u reach a certain RPM when the other two valves will be used..so altogether there are 4 valves..

the valves open when u reach about 6-7rpm depending on vtec models,they say this technology saves fuel,but i donno whether its proven or not,can ask the S4 OTs
