i failed at fig 8 and crank. the instructor told me that there is a different when u clutch in and relaese clutch when u do fig 8. is it when u release clutch u move faster? then u clutch in will slow?

Try throttle when straight, close throttle when bend, use body weight to turn, then throttle slightly before bend again. The trick I think is to apply small smooth throttle. Do you need clutch? I thought you at gear 2 already no need clutch.

When you pull in the clutch.

You are releasing the connection from the engine to the wheel. thus power is not transmitted to the wheels.

that means, your speed of your bike will be uncontrolled because of the terrain.

Eg. you pull clutch in going down a slope. becos of gravity, you are faster going down a slope and there is no control by the engines to regulate your speed.

You might also hit a stone and made a dead stop and fly. But if you still has your clutch out and your enginer power transmitted to the wheel. You will hit a stone and most likely run over the stone and be safely on your way again.

When you release clutch, it means you have a steady stream of power on your wheels ensuring speed and pick-up.

you clutch in, might either go too fast or too slow.

Some bikes requires a half clutch control. Especially at te crank course.

Try practising a half clutch control while stopping. release the clutch till a biting point (where the bike feels like surging forward, but being control because you have not fully release the clutch).

The ideal for the figure 8 & crank was that you move with 2nd gear and controls the speed with just your throttle right?

So you need to condition your left hand to dont touch the clutch until you are ready to stop at the stop line.

In simple terms you mean the s-course require constant slight throttle even during bend, but for crank course the instructors said we should not pull in clutch.

travelling on 2nd without opening the throttle much shouldn't be a problem for 2b bikes.

you can roll along and complete the course.

they just don't want to see u clutching in.

When you pull in the clutch, you disengage the engine.

You clutch in and select the gear.
Gear 1 = Push off
Gear 2 = Low speed, acceleration
Gear 3 = Acceleration, mid range speed (L)
Gear 4 = Acceleration, mid range speed (H)
Gear 5 and above = Cruising.
You actually move with your clutch, with the proper gears engaged
The trottle only provides the power.

In fig 8, i believe you'll be on 2nd gear when you enter the course, just maintain the throttle and control with your rear brake(tapping it, not jamming it). You've seen how the instructors do, they'll apply counter steering techniques and weight shift which is not taught, but that's for advance.

For you I guess you'll just have to keep the clutch engaged(not depressing the clutch handle) while in the course. You'll breeze through the test....
