hi jaws,
rules of thumb for clutch cable replacement :
after you have set yr clutch biting point, tighten the 2 screws
or/and nuts to secure it.
Ride bike in yr usualy style.
After about 200km, feel whether yr biting point has changed. if
yes, mostly likely the cable is gg to give way soon. but must check
its not due to the loosening of the 2 screws.
2B bike's clutch cable is generally thin so u might not even know
when it will break. if you can spot anywhere along the cable,
expecially the part linking to the engine, that there's ANY strand
of wire sticking out, u have to be easy on the yr clutch control
and CHANGE is asap!
2A bike's clutch cable are thicker so can last longer. i 'tested'
once my clutch cable on my S4 which had alrdy exposed about 3
strands of wire for about 3000km before replacing it. it
held!
anyway, i wld suggest u change it whenever u feel that its gg to
give way or after every 50,000km. after all, its relatively cheap
as compare to towing the bike or taking cab to buy cable to
D.I.Y.
i paid $25 for org cable and labour. a bit exp actually.....but
still cheaper....
