Morgan: Squares up to Angel at full-time
The FA will study video footage of Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo
Angel's apparent elbow on Sheffield United defender Chris Morgan on
Monday.
The flashpoint happened towards the end of a thrilling 2-2 draw and
was the prelude to angry scenes in the tunnel area after the final
whistle.
Morgan was seen to race off the pitch - closely followed by United
assistant boss Stuart McCall - and Villa manager Martin O'Neill
admitted "a few words were exchanged in the tunnel".
Referee Mark Halsey took no action at the time against Angel, who
came on as a late substitute for Chris Sutton, and the FA are
waiting to establish whether the official witnessed the
incident.
If Halsey's report indicates he did not see the incident, and the
FA video advisory panel then decide there is a case to answer, the
Colombian international could receive a three-game ban for violent
conduct.
An FA spokesman confirmed: "We will await the referee's report from
Mark Halsey to see whether he saw the incident and we will study
any relevant video footage."
Villa boss Martin O'Neill has also promised to watch replays of the
confrontation before deciding whether to make any further
comment.
Angel, who has scored seven goals this season, has lost his place
in the Villa starting line-up for the last two games to Milan Baros
who scored Villa's equaliser against Neil Warnock's side.
But his absence during the forthcoming busy festive period would
still be a big blow - if he is deemed to have been guilty of foul
play at Morgan's expense - given the lack of depth in the Villa
squad.
