simple piece of advice: "Ride like everyone on the road is
trying to kill u." This piece of advice was given to me by a long
time bike rider. In other words, ride defensively and ride slow. No
point speeding and cutting thru traffic just for a few minutes and
no point getting the fastest 2b bike either.
I've been in two accidents despite taking all these precautions
(both times knocked down by blind and idiotic drivers), but i still
love riding. I have gotten my class 2, but i still mutter a prayer
everytime i put on my helmet. Unfortunately, since there's only
that many precautions u can take, and the rest is up to other road
users. there are drivers out there who are arrogant, idiotic, or
just plain blur.
I am not going to try to convince u riding is safe. It isn't, due
to the fact that there are factors that are not in your control.
Still, many of us love riding because it is part of this that makes
it exhilirating. So, before u decide to take up this form of
transport, consider this carefully, and keep this in mind. Equally
important, keep in mind your loved ones too.
Good luck.
