power valve open earlier better or open later better?

does 4500-5000 rpm seems to be a gd range for opening of power valve?

4 stroke bikes doesnt have power valves
so u dun have to worry much bout taking care of them...

the most common ones r the: RC valve, YPVS and the KIPS

Erm there’s no way u can make the powervalve open earlier unless u know how to re program the CDI lor…. mech adjust the cable at the valve one is actually only to adjusts the tensions of the cable though they think it helps to make the valve open earlier. Then those who looks at their rpm meter…. one pls dun do tat unless u change a new original rpm meter for tzr or which ever bike . For most of the tzr on the road… pls note that unless u have a new original tzr rpm or speedometer….if not what u see not accurate.

oh yah... even if u can adjust the the location degree of ure powervalve.... u have change the power band drastic.... are u sure the other ends of the valve is not blockin the exhaust port hole? leave it as what yamaha have program and forget the idea kakakak this idea has been thought by lots of pple in the past liao.... and its prove to be useless... even for dirt riding.

powervalve works in a 180 degree turning effect. As the increase in voltage pumpin towards the CDI unit from your generator coils( which is the magnet coils as most pple know) the CDI will send signals to your powervalve unit which would control the powervalve motor to turn open the powervalve. when its fully open.... the flatside of the powervalve is nicely parallel to the exhaust port hole passage providing a full exhuast outgoing effect. But if you were to adjust the valve to other than its original degree... it would probably give you a more powerful mid range and acceleration lor but this only provide you a very short outburst of power meaning no top end for you liao becos when the powervalve unit turns the motor to its max. one side of the powervalve would blk the exhaust port hole partially givin u instead of increase of power to decreasin in top end power... and bla bla bla.... side effect.... may links to piston jammed if not handle properly....lots of things would starts crumbling down in due time if u know what i mean... kekeke

my suggestions is .... if u really wants.... take away the powervalve unit and the motor... then weld ure valve dead in the cylinder block...meanin converting you bike to a no valve system lor... arbo theres no other ways loh.

any idea wat to do with the setting now?

i went to tuning many times liao, stil cannot get the smooth riding effect...

i can only low rev each gear from 3000 to 4500rpm, n the engine starts choking, like begging me to open throttle alot more so that the valve can open fully...on the whole, my bike cant cruise at below 80km/h at 6th gear!

erm its depends on ure bike conditions lor ... what was the last few thing the mech done to the bike... i need to know ... if not its kinda hard for me to troubleshoot for u. You're riding tzr izzit?

nope.. i riding phantom 150..
i sent my bike for full servicing n then turned out like this... he said tuned my valve for me, n i said, "ok ok ..."n then found out was actually like this....sigh, its realli damn difficult to ride leh..... must play with throttle, clutch n gear very often...unless i ride fast....

i c... although your bike is not using powervalve system but then... its still the same theory lor... CDI would send signal to ure valve control unit and ure valve control unit will ask the motor to open the valve... its still the same... i believe what ure encounterin now is high rev feelin but then no difference would be made to ure top end... i suggest u ask ure mech to do it back for u lor... moreever there would be more maintainance for high rev settin anyway... i believe urs is for transport purpose so no point do until like that... it would only let u have a higher fuel consumption and a short mid range out burst... can't really do much.

riding slow sucks, but the cruising at 100-110 is very smooth, moreover, i feel that my throttle open lesser than b4 at tat speed, i tink the rpm is lower, cos the engine sounds not as loud as previously.. issit like this?

yup is like that... cos when the valve position is advance more than its original positions it alters the exhaust timing meaning more exhaust is being release out of the cylinder block creating a larger scavenging effects which leads to more fuel intakes but when all this happened in a lower rpm( which means the sparks given out from the sparks plug is not sufficients to burn the fuels, resulting in an uncomplete combustions in the engine combustions chamber) will
1st- you will have hi rev effects/ which is, u feels your bike is coughin at slow speed.

2nd- you will have higher consumption of fuels if you keeps going at slow speed. even though you can choose to cruise at 100- 110km/h base on what you have said... i believe your overall fuels consumption will still be greater than ure last setting.

3rd- i agree that now you're feelins that ure rpm are lower ... thats is certain as ure valve are advanced. meaning everything excepts your ignition timing have been push forward. but bear in mind that although you have push forwards the timing of almost everythings on your engine, end of the day the powerband still lies on your exhaust pipe.

4th- Remember lor... there's no best of both world Wink either accelerations to mid range or mid range to top ends... its your choice.
