What does run-in actually means?(for 1st hand bikes)

Rolling Eyes Hi everyone, i have just bought a new phantom 200....i heard ppl talking about run for new bikes...some ppl say that i must ride at 60km/h for 500km...some say that i cant drag my bike..Can someone pls tell me what should i do?

from wat I understand...running-in simply means what U have just written above...cannot go beyond a certain speed and rpm for a certain mileage....and of course...to use a suitable gear for the various speed...if I am wrong...anyone here..pls correct me.. Laughing Mr. Green

huh ok this is wat i was told and did exactly wat was told and now my ta200 got no problem at all so ..

condition the gear by riding 60km/h for 200km (one time only)

ride 60km/h constants for next 600km

after 800km (200+600) then change the engine oil

ride 80km/h gradually till 1600km

then change the engine oil again after that can go gradually till 90km/h 100km/h +++

things to bear is dont drag..... ppl like to drag at first 2 gear which will do harm to your bike... but of cos shiok cos u are the first one to move on...

Think warm up bike and keep the rpm low will do. Hard to ride below 60km/h all the time leh, later traffic jam liao. Then road tax going to increase, more erp!! Sad

speed is not important. RPM is.

have to agree wif nismo... Rpm is more impt that speed... used to have tzm(1st hand) and the manual say that for the 1st 500km or something... rpm should not be above 5000...
>500km, rpm not more than 6000
>1000km, can open the damn valve liao... Laughing
juz imagine that u riding at 5000rpm and your speed is oni 60km/h Rolling Eyes
correct me if i'm wrong, at 5000rpm using lowest gear, speed should be ard 80-90km/h, rite?

if you really can tahan ... then run in more ... if not then forget it lor hahaha ....
I run in my SP for 5000KM ... then ride for one year ... no problem at all ... now sold liao ... third buyer liao ... haizzz stupid third buyer buang the bike .... so sad ....

wah lauuu run in until 5000km huh....siong man, i though until 3000km then can wack already?
for me now only 2300km already wack the bike abit lah, always 9000-10000 rpm (when on exp.way) but normal road maintain about 7000-8000rpm, sometime traffic light green (got to speed up for a while drag the bike abit on 1st gear....till 10000rpm (but should be ok right if for a while and not so frequent?)

Am i right to say when u drag the bike, your engine also drink more petrol?

Cos 2 weeks back (did alot of dragging... my bike not even 320km must use reserve alrady)

now never drag so much can last till 360km

jsut wan my bike to be in tip top condition mah .. so run in more lor ... run in up to your own preferance lor ... some ppls run in 500km whack liao ...

ya you are right to say that bike drink more petrol when you whack ...

wow power run in for 5000 click ... ermm some things i dun understand ... if run in the gears and other thingys ... seals ... crank .. i understand. but the compression of a over hualed / new bike is so shiok shiok ... run in a bit can liao mah . run in till the compression is not there .. i rather use a losse piston or a old bike.

just an idea ... maybe when running in pour a bit more premix besides the 2T pump and richen the tunning so that the pistons are kept cooler---> anyone try b4?

my bike 260 - 280km muz use res liao leh...
