In what way is Wigan a flop? They are tenth in the table as of
today. Last season, they were exceptional, but that;s only because
we all didn't expect too much of them in the first place. When they
reach the Carling Cup final, and finish repsectably in the league,
we changed our views of them, and expect them to replicate it this
season again.
The thing is, teams now know Wigan's style of play. They sign many
new players these season to strengthen the team. Danny Landzaat,
Valencia, Kilbane, Heskey, Kirland etc took time to settle in. And
Wigan's defence sucks? Leighton Baines is the man to look out for
on the left. He is a shoo-in for England sooner rather than later.
Fitz Hall is a good capture from Crystal Palace, and sooner or
later, he will shine.
Come the end of the season, I still expect Wigan to remain a EPL
team, but maybe not finish as high as they did last season.
