What would u do if your relatively new rear tyre has a nail in it.

*do take note that the tyre can use for at least 1 more year on the road

a. Pull out the nail and get it fixed ASAP
b. Top up the tyre pressure ocassionally
c. Change a new tyre altogether
d. juz faster pull it out and dun bother to patch it.
e. none of the above

GawDAMMIT i hate NAILS on the road.

do what i did :-

get it patched, play more corners, do more burnouts, get it used up fast, then get a new tyre.

Think i will choose A. Then wait till pocket not so tight then change the tire.

i choose a. y? becoz i first day got bike, kenna nail liao. 2 days later ride bike, the tire deflated liao, push to nearest shell station to pump air. then go patch it lor. what for waste money change one? unless the tire botak liao then maybe consider changing. us until now, 8 months liao, no prob leh

i will choose (A) also. 3M came up with a tyre liquified rubber which u can squeeze the liquid into the tyres...especially for brand new tyre. let the liquid flow freely inside the tyre and in the event when the tyre is punctured, the liquid will flow and fill up the hole...then solidify. The process will lose some air...just go to the nearest petrol station to top up the pressure....and the tyre is working again.

But so far, this technology is new, and no feedback of anyone using yet. But bike shops can cater for filling the holes up for $10 or so...its better than getting a new tyre.

but of course, if the punctured hole is too big, then a new tyre is inevitable... Confused

we just bought it to try yesterday dude... first can didn work...

bought a second can and it didn work either...

conclusion: it might work for small holes, but for a hole the size of a chopstick diameter... it doesn work.

Err...it depends on the scenrio... b'coz nails come in several sizes & length)

2 possible scenrio came across my mind>>

scenrio 1(if impact not so great)

1.ride with extreme precaution
2.note for air leakage from time to time
3.if no air leakage(may still tahan)
4.will still ride with nail on tyres for the time being until further sign of leakage (may be days may be months )
5.change upon last solution

scenrio 2,( if air leakage persists)
1.apply some pressure to the tyre
2.get it removed & patch upon reaching the motorshop
3.back to scenrio 1....

alternatively if i've got spare $ i will change to a brand new one.

Yup,

Try your best to get a new tyre, don't waste your money (especially if its someone else's money on the canned stuff ... right feng125?).

I agree that safety is the main concern, most of us got enough to worry about on the road already... Wink
