There was a report on this issue. This case is bigger than it
seems. They said that if they didn't do this, the whole italian
football could be in big trouble... cos many people will lose faith
in their league, TV company may not want to buy the rights,
Supporters may not want to pay huge amount for tickets, Sponsors
for mid-table and lesser teams would not want to put money in too
cos if the league is seen to be fix, there is no point cos no one
will be interested in it anymore.
Imagine if the rest of the clubs, maybe the other 15 clubs sponsors
withdraw their sponsorship... The Italian league will collapse
overnight. At present even smaller clubs can find sponsors but if
the league is damage... There won't be any company willing to put
millions into it anymore. And without these sponsors, the clubs
will die very fast... Whose going to pay the pro players, the
doctors, managers, youth development... lost of thousands of jobs
and A whole lot of other problems. This is not like France where
only one club was involved. In this case, a bunch of clubs
including the top teams in the country are involve.
So i think they rather suffer a few years better than keeping these
team and losing the football world respect.
