William Gallas has told Sky Sports News he is excited about
training with Arsenal, although the French international refused to
talk about the ongoing controversy with Chelsea.
The Blues, whom Gallas left on transfer deadline day in exchange
for Ashley Cole, released an amazing statement on Monday that
alleged that Gallas threatened to score an own goal or get himself
sent off if he was forced to play at Stamford Bridge.
Gallas immediately denied such suggestions, and has been backed by
a number of prominent figures in the footballing community such as
PFA chief Gordon Taylor and his French captain Patrick
Vieira.
International colleague and new club captain Thierry Henry, who
scored France's second goal as they avenged their World Cup final
defeat, hailed Gallas as one of the world's best defenders
following the victory.
"At the moment for me he is one of the best centre backs in the
world and he showed that tonight again," said Henry.
"That is amazing and he scores some important goals
sometimes."
Meanwhile Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has confirmed that The
Gunners will not be making an official complaint about Chelsea's
unprecedented attack.
"I've no idea why Chelsea issued that statement," Hill-Wood added
in The Sun.
"It's not something anyone at Arsenal would have done."
