stellazio SG

ok i read the report liao, i think steve feels that having beckham but not playing him is more of an insult?

tarcki SG

it looks so light weight to me... dun understand y players like Foster,Brown,P Neville,Richardson get into the team....

fudgester SG

I know... but will Lennon replace Becks in his role?

He played pretty well, but I felt he was a little raw. I think with enough training and exposure, Lennon could well be the very next Becks. Very Happy

798 SG

dat's the reason why lennon should be given more exposure to feature since he is more speedy than beckham. better plan ahead for future den depending on beckham all the time.

McClaren has made a wise move to give england players a message to tell them they need to buck up n stop thinking they should be in the squad due to their past contribution to england. favourism should put to an end and players like michael owen n david beckham should never be 'automatic qualifiers' for england squad.

zocoss SG

Haha... i just wonder why beckham gets more news coverage than all those players in the squad?

From a certain point of view, i think it could prove better for him as he can now concentrate on madrid alone and they now have to find another target to blame next time while he sit back and watch from Madrid...

I guess if he wasn't playing at the WC than perhaps people will shift the blame to Lampare or maybe even Terry...

But then, who knows... the jury is still out.

Bontakun SG

Beckham dropped? Like how Liu Bei dropped Liu Chan? Shocked

fudgester SG

I still have one beef with the line-up:

Why is Lampard in? That bo-bo shooter's only good for laughing at. Evil or Very Mad

Anyway not important lah... these things happens. Soon people will start to ask for terry's head also... Just like with Alan Shearea, Tony Adams & David Platt before him. Alan Shearea step down at the age of 29 only after calls for him to go and I think it won't be long before people start to ask if Terry is the right choice as many still prefer Gerrard.

Terry as a player is ok very committed but as a defender, he seems to make quite a few mistakes... and if he was wearing an England shirt and makes a mistake which result in a goal, then i guess the calls will start...

The difference with Terry and the other previous captains is that at their time of selection, they were the only or best choice... But Terry will always have Gerrard compare to him for as long as he plays so if he makes a mistake, all those people who now say he is a good choice will start to ask if he was the right choice.

Hope his honeymoon period last longer.

798 SG

hope dat McClaren will rest him in reserve squad so that his form will not drift even further.

if he continue to shoot blank, i'm guarantee his morale will drop. Laughing
