Help Needed from Experienced

Hello there,

If you all have read today's Life section, you would have seen this article about a kit car being put together by two men using a body kit on an existing base. I too am interested in doing so and I need some questions answered before I start.

Firstly, do you think that such modifications to an existing car will comply with LTA regulations? It does not involve dismantling the wheel base itself, just major alterations to the body. I know for a fact that the shape of the body will be approved as it is extremely simillar to an existing car.

Secondly, can someone give some insight on importing cars from overseas into Singapore? Like Ebay for instance, what is the procedure when I buy a car on Ebay from a seller located in the US? What taxes are imposed? I'm looking to buy a Toyota MR2 if anyone is selling.

Thirdly, can anyone recommend a garage or workshop with experienced people capable of completing such a task as replacing the entire chassis of a car?

Gee, thanks for all the help guys. I got real help from someone else on another forum. Rest assured that this will be the last time I use sgforums, seeing how effective it is with non-sarcastic posters giggling fits over and over about the obnoxiously unhumourous anecdotes of old geezers with no sense of logic. LOL don't worry, sgforums will not be any worse off without your patronage. Maybe you should ask yourself whether you are at fault. Come on, a brief look at the rest of the topics will easily tell you, did you really think sgforums was a place for serious technical and mechanical discussion with the dedicated participation of engineering savvy individuals?

Letme give you a very simple analogy, its like you go into KFC and want to buy a Big Mac. Is KFC at fault for not selling Big Macs? Or are you the one at fault for not making sure the place u wanted to go to was Macdonalds and no KFC. By your posting about 'screw the rest of us', you are portraying yourself to be a small minded, petty person. You don't screw the KFC counter staff for not selling Big Macs, don't you?
