I wouldn't go as far as to say that we are a nation of child
killers. Like any other nations, crimes are an ever present
anomaly, put forth by a combination of factors. There are countries
out there who bear witness to more horrific forms of crimes in a
manner more expansive than what we've encountered here in Singapore
(mass genocides, racial cleansing, etc...).
It is just that because of our country's size and population that
people are shocked when this things happened. The popular belief is
that the aggravation of criminal activities are in direct
proportion to the size of the nation - which is entirely wrong and
absurb to even start with. It is just that with a smaller nation,
we could exert more control over the populace..but there are no
fool-proof actions that would prevent crime, not now and never
would be.
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers!
