I think this season fergie is trying to learn from chelsea's
formation of playing 3 in the middle of midfield, and 2 forwards
supportting 1 main centre forward.
However, unlike Chelsea, they do not have sufficient cover for
central midfield positions. In my opinion, only Keane, Scholes and
Smith can play well in central midfield. Fletcher and Fortune are
more suited to play on the wings, so too are Giggs and Park. Phil
Neville, who used to do quite a good job in the middle in the
absence of keane, has joined everton. I think they need to get a
quality player in this area.
Another baffling fact for man united is.. why is it that Ronaldo is
scoring bundles of goals for portugal, but his strike rate while
playing for United is so pathetic? Some more this season he has
been utilised more as a supporting forward than winger where he
used to play when he first joined united.
