Devil1976 SG 4. 1 horizontally slicing the cake into top and bottom layers. And 3 on the surface of the cake itself, forming a triangle in its centre.

the.raven SG ok firstly u cut horizontally at the side of the cake, the cake now is 2 layers right? then u cut 3 times vertically. if u think for a bit, you will find that its possible to split a circle into 7 parts with 3 lines(draw it on paper to see) so now u got 7 parts on each layer = 14 piece
arrggh SG simple lah. Like what the.raven said. Split the cake into 2 layers, then cut the cake diagonally at the top. You should have 4 equal quarters. Now, you have 3 cuts with 8 similar pieces rite? Then do the last cut horizontally across the top third of the cake. Now you have 14 parts with 3 cuts.
