klpenguin SG Hello Spencer99 It cost $30 Malaysian to register for the KLIM05 but for overseas people its the same amount but in USA dollars. Real Killer ! As its not as good as the singapore marathon. Race route is hilly (towards the end), no sports massage and medical teams normally do not have vaseline or deep heat rub in their bags. No mobile toilets along race route. Cheer spectators depends on weather (ie hot sun ..adious). Check out my KLIM04 race report .. that was my first marathon and the Sinagpore was my 5th. Keep in touch, Penguin-6 www.jroller.com/page/penguin
Fuqua SG Nice klim04 report. The photos of the girls distracted me a bit but i like photo of the medal. I WANT IT TOO!!!!! That settle it then. I'm joining the full marathon. Do u know if the race officials will allow us to bring our own drinks, heat rub, power gel during the day? thanks in advance
kops21 SG Steady lah...so fast wanna run leow har... I have PM Penguin 6 for additional details not just on KL but on other marathons as well...akan datang...
spencer99 SG Actually if you consider the trip to and from KL (bus or flight) and hotel stay cost…. the entry fee for marathon is not very significant. If I run I will go for 1/2M. Full M might too tough. will also go with gf so we will run together.
spencer99 SG Do they have proper water points? And medical teams on standby instead of people going down?
Fuqua SG Can't help it. The way i'm feeling now, it's either run or die. sad but true. gotta go to the gym later and work on my upper body then plan my training for the KL marathon. 6th March not that far off u know ... rite then, Keep us informed yeah.
Fuqua SG I want to take things easy too and go for 1/2M but the reckless side of me want to rectify my singapore mistake quickly and run the full marathon and prove indeed i can do run a better time. I worry the organisation though. Hmm, I want to go with my GF too, but WAIT, dam, i dont have a GF hehe Go Friday, back Monday. Take leave off work on Monday. For now, sounds good to me.
kops21 SG i find that doing 1/2M at KL, abit wasteful as travel so far leow and do only 1/2M Nah...Training also run more than 1/2 M lah.....what is different? At least 4 u guys lah...me still abit short of distance, but will push up the mileage to another notch soon to prepare for Full M. After reading from Penguin website, also worry about the organisation too. If so screw up, then die on the road also no one will know... If kops21 do go, will be driving to KL on Friday evening after work. Reach KL around midnight, stay and rest for the entire saturday...okay lah, shop & eat abit lah... ...Sunday run the marathon...then go and EAT ALL U CAN... Monday afternoon make the trip back to Singapore. On another note, we go KL to look for mei mei? Or try to sian one along the run...
spencer99 SG Yeah... my point exactly.... no offence to the KL marathon organizers. but I think when running overseas must be more careful. Will therbe proper medical care if something go wrong. I think for people of our fitness levels, it is highly likely something might happen if we push.. come on admit it, we are not super fit. and a Full M is very hard on the body. Also must factor that we will be running in alien environment and will have differnt diet and lodging from home... also never run in KL before. For eg, I have ran in ECP, Marina Esplanade for both training and races before so quite familar. and if cannot tahan just take a cab home. But in KL how??? But of course this is an additional challenge also to stretch yourself to a higher level.
kops21 SG Let keep this thread to Standard Chartered Marathon 2004. Please continue the discussion on KL Marathon 2005 here
klpenguin SG Singapore marathon ? Oh.. let me do some ranting here ! 11 am .. morning .. I was queing up for my marathoner massage as stated in the race booklet but this big indian monkey (like 3 time world champion bouncer) told me to go GET LOST !! Seems they want to close shop and I was in the way. I told the monkey that I already entered the MASSAGE PALOUR GATES. If close then close after me lah but the monkey said ... " I HAVE MY ORDERS !" Some people gave monkey the .." FAK YOU look" and quickly sat down on some of the empty waiting chairs almost in protest. As if tempting the black monkey to kick them in the BALLS. But I walk away in disgust .. cursing some bad words that cannot be repeated here. Why .. why.. why... ???? Anyway.. I wrote up a good race report for the Singapore marathon because I believe deep down .. it was an accident .. like ACT OF GOD thing. 8-( May the black monkey dont strike any lottery .. ever again. 8-)) Penguin-6 www.jroller.com/page/penguin
kops21 SG Sad to hear your bad experience... After finish running, took my medal, picked up my bag and left for home with a 1 litre of the official isotonic drink(took me 4 days to finish it)...
no_speeding SG Holy cow! I have sink to new depths.. Total mileage clocked since marathon sunday = 3km. hahahha...im really pigging and wasting my life away working on projs. Nowadays, no motivation to run. ;( Back then, in order not to waste the $30 registration fee, i was running day in day out in all kinds of weather... i feel so guilty! ;p
Fuqua SG U need a new goal! ---> KL Marathon. hehe. Actually, i've been to the gym twice and both times, my body feels kinda weak and tired still. I don't know, maybe this marathon after-effect still playing havoc on my body. I got approached by one of the personal trainer to take up Manila Adventure racing of some sort next year. This involves multi-discipline sports like sea swimming, trail running, kayaking or what-have-u. Wohooo! SOUNDs LIKE FUN!!! Hmmm, I'll think about it after XMas. U guys know if Singapore gonna host one of those AXN Challenge adventure race next year?
Fuqua SG Me gained half kilo. Gotta go back on the streets this weekend then ... AND stop carbo loading hehe.
Fuqua SG I wanted to try the free massage too but saw the long queue and decided against it. After my marathon, i took my medal, picked up my bag, sit down in the tent, chatted with a few ppl, no luck with any girls hehe, eat nasi lemak, get a free sport-bottle, then take taxi back to my place. Packed my travel bag then take flight to bangkok hehe.
spencer99 SG I didn't hang around after the run too.. get the medal and t-shirt and left... didn' t even grab a drink... somehow too tired to drink and then go get a cab from Raffles City. I didn' t run since the marathon also. but I did hit the gym twice doing classes. Felt weaker then b4 marathon. I think still suffering from the effects of the marathon somewhat. Will try to run this weekend.
no_speeding SG The best part is, i weigh myself 3 days ago....im still 60kg! Im really really eating alot.... in fact, i think im eating as much as when i was training but minus the 2 hour running each day!! Mgt be worms in my tummy!!! I have 2 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner and 1 large cup of milo every nite but no wgt gain!!! sigh!!!! I dun really feel weak or watsoever, in fact, i think my body took the marathon really well becoz by tuesday, all the pain & aches were gone.. i guess its the mind. hahah... =( My gf was ard when i finished. hahah...i had fun trying to smuggle those small bottles of mineral water home becoz my gf thought it was cute! Also drank 2 packs of strawberry milk which was reserved for the kids (i think) after the kids dash. I dun noe about u guys but i kinda felt lost after completing the race. All the training boiled down to that 4 odd hours. it was really worth it... Im tempted to do it again next year but...hahah....i dun think i will ever get the rush i felt then. Life is good! i wanna be a glutton!
