Spurned worker
molests maid
A BANGLADESHI
worker who tried to chat up an Indonesian maid in a Housing Board
building corridor molested her when she spurned his advances.
A district court heard yesterday that the 31-year-old maid was in
the corridor outside her employer's 12th-floor Boon Lay flat at
about 10.30am on Thursday.

She was folding the laundry that had been hung out to dry, when she
noticed the worker, Bellal Nurul Islam, 29, coming down the
stairs.
The man tried to give her his mobile phone number, but she ignored
him and continued with her work. Bellal suddenly hugged her from
behind.
The shocked woman turned around and hit him repeatedly on his chest
with her fists.
When she started to scream, the worker fled.
The maid made a police report that evening.
Yesterday, Bellal pleaded guilty to outraging the maid's modesty by
hugging her and was fined $3,000.
The court was not told the details of his arrest
