alegna_t13 SG Desker road (facing the Jln Besar Hawker Centre). Cheap and good....!!! 1st time I actually crave for TeowChew porridge after many years of hating it (hated it cos have to eat it every afternoon since I was 7 till I was 16)
chiabaliao SG I used to stay near Owen Rd. Still seldom ate the teochew porridges there because of their cut throat prices, and too many expensive high class wannabe dishes. The MRT development probably drove them away. Those humble down to earth types are the ones I go for.
chiabaliao SG The Punggol nasi lemak is way over rated. I once ate at the old Punggol nasi lemak at Brighton Crescent. The most expensive lasi lemak I have ever eaten.
viewquek SG So so only. Been there many times after drinking. Rather ex, seem to count per head than per dishes. But i like the promfet with black bean.
tarutaru SG In Taiwan their porrdige is with sweet patotoe so of cos there isn't taiwan porridge even the normal porridge also got sweet patotoe.
dreamthinkdo_ers SG Blk 23 Sin Ming Rd Veri reasonable, but veri pack. Only sell in the afternoon. From 11 plus till ard 3pm. Need to queue up to order but quene move quite fast. Coffeshop also sell veri nice toast roti buns after 2 plus.
wanker10 SG Yup, really miss those at the Owen Road. Remember they have 3 shops there selling teochew porridge. Used to go there to "ta pao" the dishes if mum not cooking. Anybody know where they move to? Their chai buay is the best. Cheers,
rane SG heard from my familymembers who know them, non of them exists now. but the teochew porridge stall's boss son is working in other teochew porridge stall. I luv the meat fishball and kiam chai buay. Best in Singapore!
chiabaliao SG Eating teochew muay helps me to appreciate the simple foods in life. Take the humble cucumber, for example, hawkers just dump it onto the plate as an extra, but an experience I had when I tried a dish of cooked cucumber at a teochew muay stall in Upper Serangoon gave me a totally different opinion of this vege. I like teochew muay with that light pleasant taste. Another favourite dish of mine is the small silvery fish eaten with a squeeze of lime. Heavenly! Teochew muay, just keep it simple, please!
rane SG yeah, i love it too!!! thank goodness i still can eat it in the hawker centre. i love kiam chai buay, tau pok, bak eeei, steam fish, salted egg, yumi yumi, and the porridge is beautiful!!! prefer teochew and cantonese food to hokkien food.
foga SG shi bu shi "Ye Shang Hai" it's the one at Henderson Road, opposite Henderson Secondary School it's cheap, nice food, but the porridge can get a bit sticky ( less water ) and most of the items are cold ( or lukewarm ) but i rather have this den being tok chai tao at Havelock road
stooki SG oh u mean the coffeeshop wif a small carpark infront? lunch time i saw many taxi drivers parked there.... i eat cai png there before
sheri SG I dun go to porridge only stalls, ie the porridge I eat si usually Cai Peng type. I love Clementi Central one. It is along Bossini, at a corner. Beside is a curtain shop, opposite is the hawker. Wah, nice (ESp the friend fish with sauce and Brin-jor) ! My friends also liked the curry though they found the other dishes normal – good .
geboz SG 2 stores that i like .. 1. Macpherson Road ------------------------- Along Macpherson road at the end nearer to Paya Lebar road, there is a row of shophouse selling food. On one end is the "famous" duckrice store and the porridge store is the second last shop on the other end. 2. Serangoon Central --------------------------- Next to the interchange facing a minimart. There are 2 coffee shops side by side, and both have a porridge store. However, you can't miss the famous one as there is always a queue atthe store.
