squeaky car, not rat - why?

Hi, anyone knows what gives?

My car's born in 92. Sometimes when I turn the steering wheel but then again, even when the wheel is straight,just gives a squeak whenever it likes, not all the time. I know it's 16-years old but other older car I tried never gave a sound like that.

I am sentimental and all for extending lifespan of things, or I am damn cheapskate - errhmm.

Much appreciated if anyone in space can hear me.

check ur suspension,maybe leaking. check ur tie rod ends bushes,maybe leaking.check ur engine mounts,maybe time for change.dont forget tranmission mounts too. last but not least check all suspension arm bushes,they tend to leak pass 10yrs plus depending on how u push ur car.

Er, how to check, how will I know which one gives me the problem?
Last time, I told my workshop man he didn’t solve the problem.

Say, is it dangerous to drive with this soft door hinge ‘ee’ sound, which comes only every now and then, not all the time.

ya,it could be brake pads n rotors seizing...go to another mech for a 2nd opinion. tell him when the sound comes on,is it during braking,after braking,after steering,when going over a hump etc... sound can be from a lot of tings, i had a wind sound that comes only after 80km/h, pinpointing to after installing oil cooler at right duct,so not all sounds are 'lethal'

Not the brake pads, cos the ek sound doesn’t come on whenever I press the brakes.

Sounds like a rubber part rubbing hard against something wet...

Anyway COE cars are like that. So long as it does not affect the function and it is not an irritation to many...leave it lah.

But its good to tell your mechanic during your next servicing. Somethings that person may just have the simple solution to it.

Wah, so much help. Thanks. Brakes – not lah, ‘cos squeak comes during steering straight road, not braking. My car’s ‘92, 16-year old. Yes, old but I did have a 23 year-old car before and it didn’t squeak at all.

Any good & reasonable ‘musician’ in Alexandra Village workshop?

Just heard; the ratty sound comes from the area in betw the driver’s seat and the front passenger, in the undercarriage area, this particular quite distinct and loud.

So can’t be wheel bearings, but thankyou for your suggestion & concern to a stranger.

yah drive shaft. actually this is not a big deal. but if u really worried. then go and check with ur car repair shop lor.
