Please read carefully the thread. I was told off for clearing my tables. =) You should be totally ashamed of yourself for flaming people even before reading...

Aiyo why the rage sia...... correct mah, those who dont mind jiu clear the table, selective cleaning mah... the job of the aunty is clear tables mah, if you got the heart to go the extra mile, just go clear it. If dont, also nvm also not littering purposely, anyway mac gonna pay us the cleaner salary for cleaning tables ? Then next time you want hokkien mee also go in fry yourself.

Like what Dondontan say... Selective clearing. Places like fastfood restaurants, do not clear. Unless there are no cleaners on duty or when the cleaner is too busy clearing, clear yourself. If auntie is slacking there... let her do the job. Dun cause her to lose her job.

Of course, nobody goes and litter. It takes effort to litter. I personally hate people who litter. I hate to step on rubbish! Eek..

What I hate is the attitudes given by those who scream and shout others.
You can voice your opinion, but not scold others.

The way these people are replying, though they are gracious to clear tables, lack basic manners and moral values. Seriously, they are more f*** up.

I actually like the help yourself to the chilli sauce concept. It's great for chilli lovers like me. As for clearing the tables, I don't mind doing that actually. My only gripe is why pay these workers such meagre pay? $3.50 / hr am i right? That's exploitation considering the huge profits they make for the billions of meals they sell every year

Yup. Should be around $3.50. My secondary school days was like $2.80 per hour.

Chilli sauce concept, actually I personally do not take sauces.
But I have seen some children playing with the sauce, poking in to the holes of the sauce. Doesnt seem hygenic, as compared to prepacked sauces.

It has become a big hoo-ha now since the day the PM suggested Singaporeans to clear their own trays. Too trivial a thing to make it such a big hoo-ha, only small mind people dwell on clearing trays when they hold a high position.

Yes it's something small, but dun forget as we've become affluent and so on, we demand 'service'. So lots of good things learnt in school suddenly all became of no use overnight.

I still miss the days of 1960s - early 1990s.

Becoming affluent is fast or now becoming a thing of the past. Many having difficulty to look for jobs.

Such thing need not be told (clearing trays). We are not school children, neither is the PM our teacher or principal.

The thing is, compared to 1970s or 1980s, our lives are still better off.

No doubt times is a little tight now w/ the global recession, but if there's a will to resolve things, there's a way out.

Actually loads of you havent seen some social undesirables.

They are not the poor, not the middle class, but the upper class.

I worked in a supermarket as a part time last year... and I experienced this...

There are many rich housewives in Singapore who live in a bungalow, drive a car.. and the only thing they have is TIME.

I have seen a rich tai-tai screaming and yelling at the top of her voice for 1 hour just to get a free wok. A total disgrace. =X

And I have seen another rich tai-tai, who bought a chicken, threw it in her car, came back 4 hours later and complain her chicken is spoilt and not hot, and screams and shout and say why the chicken is not fresh.

And a pregnant woman who screamed at the top of her voice to the cashier for double scanning her items... while everyone in the supermarket looks at her.
