eh honeymouse only doing xmas cake 1 week before xmas? i thought the "tradition" is to start in september/october in order for the alcohol to infuse thoroughly?

fruitcake shouldn't be that diff. ok, maybe the icing and drawing etc could be tricky. anyway, you have advance notice for next year's xmas! plenty of time to soak the mixed fruits/raisins! let us know how your cake turn out.

It was pretty close... The first 2 I made were pretty hard like a rock too. It tastes what it should taste but just hard and a bit dry. That's why I am trying a new recipe. This one I have to soak the fruits in brandy for 2 days.

The christmas cake I baked last night turned out pretty good. Better than the first 2 I made. Nice!
