Bloody hell... Me too.

I can use the internet just fine and everything.

But once I play Dota, it will for sure d/c me. I don't even think I can play any online games at all. It'll just disconnect me.

I called singtel and the guy came down to check but he juz said that there was no problem with the line at all...

Now, I suppose its the modem problem. How the hell can I rectify this? Mad

Starhub is a big organisation too, but my friend managed to get out of his contract after he signed it. He said there wasn't any improvement in the speed of his internet connection. Starhub didn't take any further actions, the contract was void.

I AM using Pacific internet. It is so stable, no problem had given me. Recently i on my PC for 3days, and it is not disconnected, neither do it decrease it’s speed.

for those having frequent disconnections during bulk data transfer from the 2wire 2700 modem (regardless of its sub model) it is likely not due to the following causes:

1] operating system
2] programs running
3] your line problem
4] interference

those people (minority) that have this 'disconnection problem when transferring bulk data' are probably running a wireless connection from the 2700 modem. it was reported that the 2wire 2700 modems (all series) have wireless connectivity problems with certain 802.11 (wifi) chipsets.

you can do a simple test (if you're currently on wireless connection to the 2700 modem) by running a speed test @ speedtest.net. if you're on the 10Mbps service and your speedtest result (on wireless) shows you 5 to 6Mbps means you're most probably using a 'non-fully-supported' 802.11 chipset.

these 'non-fully-supported' 802.11 chipsets are not 100% compatible with the 2wire 2700 modems. constant bulk data transfer will cause temporally disconnection of the DSL link. within minutes, the modem will do a reconnection and everything resume normal. if the constant bulk data transferring activity is still pressent, the modem will again disconnect and reconnect again.

Solutions:
1] DO NOT use wireless connection, use wired lan.
2] Change the modem to a non 2wire 2700 modem. (not applicable for those on MIO voice, as there is currently no aftermarket digital voice ADSL modems available)
3] Gamble your luck, try other wifi chipsets (do not ask me which chipsets work, as i have YET to meet a working one ...)

i had change 3 modem liao but each time it give me more problem.
now singnet is forcing me to take up the joint onsite the line man n the vendor to check on everything in my house before theyt change the modem(is still under warrenty), i really wonder singnet can nv get their idea clearly as now i facing weak signal strength, and y on earth they want to check my line anyway after my contract i will never use any singtel product. to me they are the worst service provider. i guess no one in singnet had face more problem than me. last time use 512kbps they dun even bother to solved my problem i had been suffering for two yr of intermitten connection. now worse all the problem combine as one simply leave me suffering, their fav quote i will follow up, (end up nv get back) i cant promise you anything, as i have to refer to the top management, think their top management also sleeping, if u stay in landed property they will be afraid of u, if u stay in hdb they dun bother abt you. so singnet in short is afraid of the rich n the poor will leave to suffer
btw next time if u face the intermitten connection, ask their engineer to change the patch panel at your area MDF, it will not solved your problem fully but at least for the next half yr u would have such problem.

Well, don't be shoved and push around by big corporations.

You should know there is this thing called misrepresentation that can enable you to get out of the contract. You have to look at what the contract specifically provided for, if they have breach that term, it's cause for rescission. e.g. if you buy 20kg of calrose rice, the supplier sends you 20kg of thai long grain. Are you suppose to accept the 20kg of thai long grain rice?

Well, you have to look at the contract terms carefully and see if you can prove your case that, they have given you a less than the service they said they would provide for in the contract.

My friend managed to cancel a contract made with Starhub, despite all those threats. If you are too easily cowed, you can't get anywhere in life. Even if the contract doesn't specifically say so, you can still use Unfair Contract Terms Act (UCTA).

Don't just stop paying them and keep quiet hoping everything will go away. They will come after you.

Write them a proper AR (addressee received) letter, tell them of the current problem you are experiencing, give them opportunity to rectify the problem. If problem not rectified by then, state that you want to terminate the contract because their service requirement stated in the contract was a misrepresentation.

Anyway most businesses won't take legal actions against small frys, because it's just not financially logical to do so. The cost to the corporation will be in thousands, getting the lawyers to write the writ of summons amongst other things. At the end of the day, even if they win the case, which I think is unlikely if you have the evidence to substantiate your case. They still have to end up paying 1/3 of the legal cost. If your contract is 2 years for $45 a month, which is $1,080 for 2 years. The legal cost to them might be $1,200. Would a business pay $1,200 to collect back $1,080?

Call them up,they will ask you do the dunno what press on your computer, if not withing speed, they send ppl to your home,FOC...

They will counter check with their own base/speed setting...

After they reset, if they had setted wrongly in the 1st place,you can feel/see the diff.

Of cos, not everything can blame them, also hv to see what is the latency of the site you are connecting to..if the source are shit, you use 100 mbps(which really deliever that speed) also no use ah...

U can hv spped of mayb 700mbps, so fast so good, but if the source can only cater 20mbps,the original source is not fast enough for the spped u have,thus some ma think its shit.

Of cos i hv my fair share of the problems wid singnet,from windows 2000, Me,X to vista now...oh wait, vista only 2 month, no problem..

Problem are auto disconnect/reconnect...but that happen once a while..and which my modem is 1st day fix, till now never off...mayb too hot??

Mayb are jus some unlucky ba.. my neighbour curse & curse day & night at starhub....i load finish my page, go next door see, his is quorter page/sometime still blank...

i so far still quite satifised wid SINGNET BroadBand(of cos, ts after they come my home to check what happen & found out they themself set wrong speed.)

I'm playing LOTR Online and couldn't even connect to the server when I first started; called Singnet and Speedtouch and they couldn't provide a solution.

Went on to did my own research and by trial and error, I managed to fix it.
