The oyster here refers to the Oyster case, a name that Rolex has used since 1926. It refers to the design of the watch's case, whereby the caseback and crown are both screwed in, creating a hermetically sealed case within which the movement is housed.

The design of the case has evolved over that time, with the crowns now being Twinlock (2 sealing gaskets) ot Triplock (3 gaskets), some models having crown guards protecting the crown and coming in various sizes from 29 to 40mm diameter. Despite all the developments, the hermetically-sealed case is still denoted by the Oyster name.

Why I asked is becos, i've seen watches face which is actually mother-of-pearl shell, instead of a white face. which I find is quite nice with all the rainbow colour.

Since TS mentioned ''oyster'', I thought along the line of a mother-o-pearl face...

Ahh, the difference is that OBS wants to sell the watch and I'm a collector, so we take different approaches to the subject. Not too many Rolex owners know about the Oyster case anyway.

Be advised, if you are going for an MOP dial, make sure the hour markers contrast with the MOP. I've come across too many people who get MOP dials with, say, white gold markers and end up getting rid of their watches after a while because they find them unreadable.

OBS, it may be wiser to approach a dealer with the watch. Your watch would be much harder to offload than one of the professional models, and the size won't help either.

yeah the size kinda restricts the amount of buyers so i'm actually hanging on to a men's size and selling this one and not likely to go to a dealer since i got overcharged the first time i brought from them and its unlikely that i would get a good price

First of all, small diamonds have no re-sale value.

2nd, stainless steel is not worth anything.

3rd, 18K gold is not eligible for re-sale, not accepted at pawnshops/jewellery shop for cash-in/trade-in.

CONCLUSION: I can expect this watch to be cheap. Laughing
